How to destroy field medical

we've already lost a bunch of MSLs and FDs. Many are waiting for a possible severance before they leave. I know the mindset for a good bunch of us is get me out of here. My so called boss is very demotivating. I know I'm not alone in feeling this way.

News flash to Rav:

You unfortunately inherited a lot of dysfunctional leaders in the MSL organization. Reason is many - one is that Joni had no clue on what we do. I would have said JF but then you might think it is Jamie. She was picked probably because she supposedly had all this leadership to bring to the organization. Well, we now know it was not the leadership we needed. One of her big sayings was everyone deserves a great leader. That turned out to be just a nice bumper sticker slogan since she did not pick great leaders for all the team leads and allowed them to pick some real winners below them.

People want to be praised and motivated for what they do and not criticized for any mistakes they make. The current crop seems to focus on criticism and that only brings the morale down. They too make many mistakes but those seem to never make it to your level. Many people have left. Why you ask - it is their leader that drove them out. Seems like many in this organization take pride in driving folks away from what was once a great place. Attrition should not be a goal for the field medical team.

Several of our "leaders" are so fake and inauthentic that it is hard to listen to their BS anymore. Maybe you could pull them aside and tell them to be "normal" which would be a nice refreshing change around here. If you need a suggestion as to where to start, two names are Peggy and Kevin. Sorry to say it so bluntly but enough is enough already. Consider an anonymous survey and you'll see what is really going on here.

The beatings will continue until the morale improves.

In addition to the dysfunctional and incompetent field medical leaders, there are also a bunch of incompetent internal medical teams in Medical Affairs, especially the recent hires the past couple of years in oncology...Bunch of inexperienced losers who just know how to ass kiss and talk a big game to climb up the chain or get into the doors....why give them the bloated titles of MSDs or group MDs when they don't even know how to be 'strategic' or just do the basics? I won't give out names because I know they will just cry, but we all know who they are....So disappointing.... I've been at Genentech for many years and have seen good leaders leave, and are now left with bunch of young, unqualified in house people to run the show.... a change is definitely needed in Medical if the company ever want to be respected again..

Genentech prides itself on two things: 1.) Above the law and free from CIAs as they tote all the time and 2.) The leadership style they cherish is called "Pointalism." Point up to management and point down to everyone else. It expired before it was published. But Genentech has such beautiful foolish grins.

The market erosion is killing the company. Their smug, Cheshire cat, approach to biosimilars is off kilter. They secretly contract with who they need business from at just below the biosimilar price. Can someone say anti-trust? Or is it just desperation based on capitalism?

I second your comments on some of the in house respiratory medical directors. What is worse are the field msl directors in respiratory. So glad I moved to a different team. A true bunch of misfits.

FMT is already destroyed so no need to ask how to destroy it. A few good folks are there likely due to pay and benefits. The reorg 2 years ago ended a once great place with the mass departures of talent.

Medical affairs across the board is a shit show. Jamie and Rav only care about getting to their next role and making the numbers look good. In house medical is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Field medical is stretched so thin but don’t worry you can be an expert in everything according to leadership and it will work fine because of the ecosystem model. Buckle up it’s going to get worse before it gets better. I fully anticipate a mass exodus after mid March.

The toxic behavior of some of the leadership has gone on way too long and has destroyed the morale of many of the long time MSLs still left. It explains why many continue to leave. The newer folks here are either too young and naive to see how bad it really is or are simply brainwashed.

Frankly it is disgusting that some of the leaders here remain employed. Maybe when they achieve 100% attrition of their team they will get let go.

What do we think about the new connector roles called Regional Strategy Director? How come the MEDS or Regional MEDS weren’t touched in any of the redesign? Interesting huh?

HahahHahahahA ..... joke of a role that likely won't exist in 2 years. Most of the MEDS do jack diddly they barely have any access to Regional payors or MDs and scrub off MSLs appts to make it seem like they are doing something, constantly want a seat at the table without having anything valuable to offer scientifically or via collaborations [this comment doesnt apply to national acct MEDs - they are actually good at their jobs].... the regional MEDS (minus RP) are even worse - can't wait for RAV to see this up close and personal since they will no longer be protected by PH and will sit on his LT. It'll be really funny if the MRSAs are successful and put the R MEDS out of a job.

Can't wait to see what comes next .... and the slew of announcements post bonus payout! Let's take some bets here on who's out next! Haha
