How to destroy field medical

Some interesting and sadly true comments about what is going on with FMT.

I have to say from the oncology days, PH and KH certainly were lacking in their people skills. Seems like this is a trait of theirs that has not improved. Seeing and hearing how they are running things today, KH would win the prize for worst leader in field medical. He is all about making himself look good and does not care about the people below him. He is an example of someone who has let his title go to his head. What is even worse is that his style is rubbing off on the some of his direct reports.

If speaking up were actually something you could do here, I would but I know that would only screw me. Glad at least to be able to share some truths on a forum like this.

This thread is truly disheartening…. I used to have so much respect for our MSLs. It is sad to see how broken this organization is. So much talent has been lost and dead wood brought in…The most puzzling thing here is that PH is still in place. I can not comprehend it based on all the comments I read here. She is the most toxic leader I worked with, by far. She is obsessed with managing up, uses her team for the sole purpose of moving up, creates a culture of fear. The way she worked with EP was obscene. One of the highlights may be when she flew to Jacksonville to play golf with EP and run the Donna marathon (hello EP ego!!) on GNE expenses. No one blinked an eye…JF became her official mentor before she moved to medical after EP’s departure (she had to go when her expenses were scrutinized because she kept traveling the world to give her breast cancer talks as KOL…). Others here talked about nepotism which is spot on. Hopefully soon someone will see right through her and will let her go. This is long overdue. Rav, please!

Let’s separate it out…you have field Medical (MSL Field team) and the “Sales light” MED team who are essentially HDs with a degree that enables them to be called out as Medical.

MSLs-many have years of industry experience, expertise in their disease states, relationships with HCPs…

MEDs-most of which have little to no industry experience, no expertise except maybe with a payer, minimal HCP relationships or disease state understanding except what they read off a slide or are told by the MS.

The MED concept may have worked if they didn’t hire the wrong individuals.
When you work in the hospital, GPO or PBM and you come to industry and they give you a great big stick to yield around co-leading with the HEDs and you have no clue what you are doing, workload is overwhelming and frankly you shouldn’t be leading people we are at this point where you are pulling Medical down with you. So let’s be clear who we are talking about…

well PH is the Med head and insisted on external posts and hiring ‘the best’. She decimated the former managed care liaisons as well influenced many MSL leaders to package out.

Newsflash - Other Head selections also made people decide to take the money and run. PH is not alone in that elite group.

And regarding KH, JF - why did you select him/he/they/her/she (and any other pronouns I missed) given his poor reviews? Is picking people who don't know how to motivate and inspire people a company value? It seems like the higher you move up in the company, the more of a jerk you become. You were clearly not listening to us in your coffee chats. It is no secret that the problem here is so called leadership. People leaving are due to their boss. Many great MSLs have left. Hopefully things get better before the rest all leave.

Selections of some field directors also made MSLs decide to shift teams or leave the company. It is really pathetic that some of these people are in leadership. They live in their bubble and will never change. Some are all about their title and don't care a crap about their folks.

Thanks PH for chiming in. Newsflash, you are the worst or the group because you instigated and manipulated a lot of the situations and people that landed us where we are.

USMA is due for another reorg.

They come every 12-18 months, every time another flunky takes the reins.

ohhh 100% …. Reorg the duds from heme/Onc out of here!! One ran for the hills when he saw the writing on the wall (good for him) what I hear from colleagues on on the heme side it isn’t much better where did they find these gems. They creep in and slowly destroy such a great culture. It's beginning unrecognizable here. Just sad :(

The post from the 21st that says it is puzzling that PH is still here is so spot on. She is a textbook example of workplace toxicity.

It is equally puzzling that KH is still employed at GNE or anywhere for that matter. People like this act as a boss and not a leader. They create fear, not confidence. They create resentment, not enthusiasm. A boss says "I", a leader says "we". PH and KH I hope you read this.

A boss knows how - a leader shows how. A boss relies on authority - a leader on cooperation. A boss drives, a leader leads. There is too much bossism here.

I hope someone in HR reads these posts. People left and continue to leave or are looking because of the people at the top and they instill their bad values into the field directors some of which should be let go asap.

Medical is overall a non accountable bunch of rubble anyway.
Best corporate welfare ever! No accountability but the number of dispassionate, apathetic clinical presentations they provide! Rid the industry of all of them

Ouch really….just because you can’t read a publication and interpret a p value you don’t have to have a hissy fit. After all not like Sales has any accountability these days with their Individual measures come on.. we are the only ones working 40+ hrs a week

Rav…hurry up with creating your North Star. The Minions are getting restless!
I fear we lose a chunk of our MSLs and FDs.

When can we have our managers back?
People need to understand which way to read the compass.
