Ethicon Biosurgery

no, it was a bunch of BS, about what a great company this place is. no mention of our horrible mgmt. it's amazing people like andre and Jay get promoted to that level of incompetence...

I love how they are hiring a bunch of young girls, where's that in the business plan? made for great eye candy at ntm ;)

I tell you what, I was a little confused during the awards dinner. I could of sworn that they were finally calling people up on stage to show the rest of us exactly who was allowed continuous supply during the backorder, but turns out it was just the glamour winners. Seems a select few didn't get hurt quite as bad as the others. Congrats on "blowing out" your numbers. Wish I could of had at least a single case of product for my new accounts.

is the backorder entirely due to the recalls on the fibrin sealant and thrombin, or is Omrix having other problems in capacity that they are not telling us about?

The backorder is due to management deciding not to build a factory 5+ years ago. They said at NTM it will be up and running sometime in 2014, but there isn't a chance that is happening. In the meantime, they have a bandaid fix with Cilag making the thrombin. Cilag was the cause of the major global supply recall. The other 6 recalls last year were do to bad decision making through out the entire supply chain. Management has no control over this business unit. Key people in management will tell you --- there is no supply. Company is being managed on shipment to shipment to shipment. then management will choose who gets supply, then fire those who don't get product or who have opinion. The sales force has 70%+ turnover. Worst of all J&J companies. This is not a good company culture. And HR knows what goes on in this unit. Prime example is L.T. getting promoted from HR rep to brand director. how does that happen? I want that career MDP plan!!! lol

What you need to understand is that Ethicon Biosurgery owns nothing when it comes to Surgiflo. The thrombin come from Jansen and the Gelitin comes from Farrosan. So at any time either or both of those companies can change, make a mistake or just miss manufacturing volumes and back order hits. They carry minimal inventory in the warehouse so there is zero room for error. Anything less then that has been a lie from management. The Jerusalem plant is only for Evicel

why do we get our thrombin from Jansen if we have a fibrin sealant plant. the Omrix plant must make the fibrinogen so why don't they also make the thrombin. It is a fractionation plant so i assume you can get both components from the plasma. looks like relying on this other supplier (Jansen) for thrombin is what got us into this situation in the first place.

What got us into the problem is horrible leadership. Omrix only had so much capability and no one thought to figure out what to do as demand went up.

So Ethicon Biosurgery comes into the market and for years sells on price and gets their demand to go up. So then they run out of supply, and they move to a pricing strategy of being more expensive and they start to loose customers. Sounds like a solid plan to me.

no. nothing has changed.. supply is still inconsistent. and bad people are still in charge. Andre and Jay need to go to. Baxter isS loving this

AF is a complete loser.
Nice job, you missing your numbers again even with supply and everyone under you is quitting. No VP to hide behind this time to cover up you complete inability to lead.

Assuming the 6:53 post is accurate, this brings up something I have been battling since 2004 with 3 different companies. Why does it seem JNJ reps (regardless of tenure, experience, intelligence, etc.) are given free reign to wander the OR? If not invited by the Md using Floseal, why was the JNJ rep even in the room? It takes an Act of Congress for me to get permission to be in the O/R, and I have the business! Pisses me off. Hospitals complain about doing business with JNJ, but do nothing about it. Pussies.

From working in the OR for 10 years as a scrub tech and now doing medical sales, I can tell you what gets you in the OR suites. If you go there and are pushy with your product, they don't care who you are or who you work for, they won't give you access.

If you go in as a "partner" and treat them like people, help out when you see them rushing for a quick turnover, needing help transferring a patient to the operating table, grab something they need opened with the circulator is busy and build a relationship with the staff, you will get all the access you could ever imagine.

Sometimes to get the sale and business you have to take the time to do things right.

Has the backorder issue been solved? I'm interviewing and want to avoid a BS situation trying to sell shit they can't ship. Thanks.

No and wont be for several years. You can have product at "safe levels" one week and a week later you're in explaining to your accounts that there is a "short" "few day" back order. This place blows.

All good, just don't let risk management see you help with a patient..
