Ethicon Biosurgery

Is the culture getting any better at Ethicon Biosurgery with the change in leadership?

Are you serious? Did you even look at the dates of the other posts? Nothing has changed at all. The cronies that were put in place are still here and continuing the strong legacy left behind (ie product shortages and micro managing). Before anyone pipes up with the, "leave if you don't like it," I'm trying. But this skid mark on my résumé is not helping.

Take the Synthesis trauma position and make over $250k. My recommendation. Run far away from any J&J company. Stock is doing great, but none of the divisions know what the hell is going on. Leadership is a JOKE across ALL companies.

Different poster here. Just curious what kind of money this gig brings.

Synthes trauma? Do you guys even know what youre getting into? A. Its probably a low paying Trauma territory, as the good ones are all taken B. You COULD make good money, but at what expense...You will be working 70-90 hour weeks sometimes and nights and weekends...Youll also be forced to work for other people and cover their territories...

50k is total comp. They will promise 160-180k, but they will also promise supply. Management made the decision not to build a factory 6 years ago, they waited too long. Now there is zero supply. They are diverting supply to US at the expense of other countries like Latin America. There has been rolling back orders since April of 2011. They use 'Bottoms up" forecasting, that is how they run this business unit. Only the elite reps are getting product and making money. Therefore you will only make your base which is 55k, max. Beyond that, the culture is awful. More than 60% of the sales force has been turned over in last 16months. Find another gig, and save yourself this career mistake.

Also, the new factory is being built in the Middle East. This statement gives you insight into management. Everyone is looking, there is no security, money, or happiness here.

there are many products in Ethicon Biosurgery. Which ones are you referring to in terms of "supply issues". Fibrin sealant and thrombin are made at Omrix plant. Surgiflo comes from Ferrosan and Surgicel else where. some what what broad statements regarding "no supply". wish to clarify?

Wow, some people aren't even making commish. That is crazy! The base is really low too, 55 max. I've heard about no supply multiple times on different threads and that Baxter has way more reps and better products. This sounds pretty scary.

My short experience here so far is pretty much the same as all the above have mentioned, but I will put a bit of a positive spin on it. Before taking the position I spoke to the rep that left and he passed along a great tip. Take the job if you need it (I did), or want jnj on your résumé, but not as a career. I was given a 12 month guarantee and a base that's a little higher than what's mentioned above. I'm going to give it a shot, but spend most of my time checking out different specialties, and then working on my relationships with those docs and reps. This is a great way to continue your job search with access to a lot of accounts and get paid for doing it. Who really cares if its its a terrible experience, they are paying me decient money, and it sure beats sitting at home on medreps and gorillamed.

Get paid, network, then leave if you don't like it.

That guarantee is complete bs, and yet another reason so many people are looking to leave. We suffered through a lenghty backorder, retained our business, and are now being told to pay jnj back. Now these new reps are coming in with guarantee cash? That is just a slap in the face. Can't wait until the Monday after NTM in Puerto Rico. The number of two week notices put in that day could be one for the record books. Thanks for the paid vacation! I wasn't paying attention at all.
