To Anyone wanting to join ETHICON Biosurgery. If this guy is in your chain of command, RUN. He cares about nothing but himself. Hit the number on or off label, AF doesn't care. If you are already at biosurgery and AF is talking in circles and making no sense, then he is getting ready to fire you. Takes the term crappy leader to a whole new level.
Highly recomd you stay away from him.

He is no different than the typical leadership at J&J. All anyone cares about is themselves. This is the culture at Ethicon and J&J as a whole. Work on your pet project and climb on whoever gets in your way. This is how you make it at J&J.

My manager does the exact same thing. He makes shit up and uses overused phrases like "big picture" "transparent" "best practices" and "collaboration". He just talks to hear himself speak and whoever kisses his ass the most wins. Horrible culture.

i seriously doubt anyone would be stupid enough to be expensing these gift cards. this is out of pocket money and off the books to try to advance the reps relationships with the account. illegal nonetheless but real hard to prove without a customer whistleblower. and why would a nurse want to lose any chance of getting her $100 gift card by blowing a whistle

Ha. Sounds like a new group of Baxter reps just got out of training. Go get 'em tiger, your toilet paper is more plush than ours. Your cotton balls have much better "value" than ours as well. Your (enter any strictly commodity based product here) is so much better. Go Baxter Go!!!!!!
 




All of the people complaining about their job at Ethicon Biosurgery- LEAVE- why are you still here complaining?? The GOOD people still here are here because this is a great company and great Career- every company has their tough times, if you are a strong rep you will last through it. As far as Baxter is concerned- our products ARE better and so are our Reps. Quit talking crap and go do your job and maybe you wouldnt be losing so much business to Ethicon.
 




I would correct you in saying the "GOOD" people are still here. More like the "yes people" or "kiss ass" people, or "ones who cannot think for themselves" are still working here. Why else would there be 75%+ turnover? I was in shock in Puerto Rico how many new faces I saw. And I would have to say that the majority of GOOD people were fired. I am only still here because I work 10 hours a week and spend the rest of my time on the golf course. This place blows and mgt blows even harder... just look at AF and JW. Those two are the most awful mgrs I have ever come across in my 20+ year career at JNJ.

If you are interviewing, run. If your team has seen 1-2 ppl quit or fired, then watch out cause you will be next. they had out PIP's here like candy
 








Reach out to your friends at other device companies and see if they are hiring in that persons area. While you are at it, see if they are expanding in your territory. You'll be doing yourself a favor as well.

Once they are pip'd up, they're already the divison scapegoat that your manager is using to explain the divisions failure to your Regional. They will soon be gone. The pips are soley about giving the division manager time to try to obtain the reps true targets and contacts (not the bs we all enter in optimizer). This is all done under the premise of trying to help. 6 months or so after they are gone, another rep in the division will get a pip or get threated with a pip as they will be the new reason the DM can't deliver. It's a great business model and a core "off the books" management tatic.

Ive been here a while and see this all the time. Keep your profile low, hit your numbers by just enough, and you personally will be fine. Your friend however is on the sh1+ list and will be under a microscope until they leave.
 




I am a newer rep, and while things have been tough, it is certainly picking up. One thing I have noticed is that Baxter reps in my territory usually look like they have been on 48 hour benders, dragging-ass with eye-bags and 3-day scruff through the OR. They cannot sell on clinical value, rather they sell only on price, price, price. Is there a big difference in Floseal and Surgiflo? Not really, but IMO, Tisseel SUCKS compared to Evicel (prep time, clot strength, etc). Baxter is trying to come up with an equivalent to Surgicel, but it isn't happening for a bit, and that piss-yellow product won't make much of a dent due to poor quality.

Want to be successful? Don't just be a sales rep, instead listen and understand what that surgical team needs/wants, and identify a potential fit. If there isn't a fit, move on to another team/surgeon, and stay in correspondence with the team that does not need anything.

And whatever you do, take a shower and get some sleep (don't be like a Baxter rep).

If any thing it has less of an indication than tisseel. Sales training can pump you up about factor 13 and how strong your new toy is. The FDA says tisseal SEALS colostomy closures.....your box says sealant, there's a difference.

The best thing you have going for you us that you can fill up your lawn mower and not mess up your GE fleet gas card tracking. You sell huggies vs pampers and no one cares but you.
 




That obviously is a rep sipping the JnJ kool aid. Wow, you clearly have no idea how bad our business has been comatisized by Baxter, Pfizer and most of all by us. Just because a Baxter rep hasn't shaved and looks like he was on a bender is most likely due to the fact that he was recovering from a night of partying with you Neuro residents and securing his business. Please just keep doing yourself a favor and wear that short skirt and tight shirt and you will continue to do just fine.

Honestly not concerned about what the box says as I have rarely said Fibrin Sealant in my description of Evicel. Colostomy closures? Wow, impressive, I am glad you seem to hinge your business, and STRONG attributes of Tisseel, on one procedure/methodology.
