Duchesnay Drug, Training and Launch Meeting

I think that's everyone's sentiment when you have a contract this incredibly short. 8 months is ridiculous. The territories are beyond big. It will be interesting to see how they run the launch meeting. Will they beat the hell out of us, or will they make a serious attempt to show that they are committed to the drug and allow us to actually have fun at the meeting? My guess is they will beat the hell out of us! Nothing like leaving a launch meeting demotivated!

Oh well, maybe we will all be pleasantly surprised!

Pleasantly surprised huh? if Publicis is involved, you will be surprised alright You can bet on that!

I am glad I have a job for at least the next 8 months, but I am looking as hard as I can to find full employment. I've got a feeling this is not going to be a good 8 months. The pressure to get this drug going in such a short period of time is going to be relentless. Just want to get through the miserable launch meeting and get on with it. I'm not excited about this one at all. Not at all.

hard to believe a poa for this pos. advice: spend about 2 hours a day trying to "sell" it and the other 6 looking for something else.

GENERIC ZOFRAN 4 MG (LOW DOSAGE)
Package Per Pill Price
60 pills. $0.63 $38.24
90 pills. $0.49 $44.29. Save $13.23

Zofran is Not indicated for NVP in US, but is indicated in Europe.
With an RX therapy now approved, Zofran usage in women may be reduced, without an indication. Diclegis is the first PG drug approved in decades. Many observers watching entry.
Some question if this newly approved drug will gain traction in a litigious market like the US, based on issues surrounding past history, although Canadian market has seen no increase in BD's. One birth defects organization is planning a challenge to the use of the antihistamine in PG females.
Duchesnay could expand after 8-12 months, if successful, or they may sell it, depends on liability factors in the market, i.e., late night ads looking for users of product.

why you gettin so upset or deep involved in this shit, like I am gonna go out and sell ,even this job if it should last is not going to be on my resume !
8 months really ?? the summer is coming up, not plan on doing the minimum.

Looks like the meeting will be one giant role playing session. I keep hoping that there is one company left somewhere in the world, that actually knows how to instill excitement and passion at a launch meeting, instead of beating the reps over the head day after day.

Looks like I will have to continue to look.

Zofran may not be indicated but any doctor can prescribe off label and they do. The oral desolving pill is the most popular, because pregnant women can't hold down the pill. The grit of the ODT is a factor but there are other Ondansetron (gen name of Zofran) on the market, one being Zuplenz which is from Praelia pharma and marketed by Womens Choice and they are branded but the price is competitive if you have insurance to generic Zofran or Zofran ODT at about $15 for 10-20 strips, and these strips dissolve in your mouth like a breath strip and they taste like peppermint which is also very soothing for nausea and you can get them in 8mg or 4mg. 8mg Ondansetron is more for nausea and vomiting associated with chemo or radiation in cancer pts. This Diclegis crap is available over the counter and I can't see anyone paying for this, even at tier 2, but I want to know how they arrive at tier 2 estimate. At $30 even with a coupon its way too expensive when you can get Zofran for $10 cash pay even with no insurance. You can forget about going to any hospitals, they will do everything they can to keep it out of the hospital, and anyone who has a large Medicaid patient population then they won't touch this drug. I know for me I got the offer for this drug but if they hassle me with 8 hour role plays then I am walking out of the meeting and going home. I have other offers thankfully but for those who don't just do your best and collect a few paychecks. Then go over to Quintiles or Ventiv and apply like crazy for the contracts they are snapping up. Publicis has bid this thing low and they are scraping the bottom for an 8 month contract. Everyone will be gone by Christmas I hate to say. They are only going to test the waters here and my guess is it will be more like Labor day rather than Christmas. They invested in iPads which is nice and the Veeva system is a good one, but that's the only highlight. I can tell you that having to detail from an iPad screen is not welcomed by a doctor. You will pick one or two slides and stick to those in the field. You will never be given enough time to go through all the slides that are in the iVA that they have on the virtual academy. Good luck all, but this is a dog drug. You have to have more than unisom and B6, this might pick up a few scraps but that's it. This will never be a permanent gig.

So you know what these companies are like, yet you continue to take the jobs?

The definition of insanity is what again?

Unfortunately, I am afraid everything you said will be totally accurate. Zofran is dirt cheap, and it works. You are right about the orally dissolving tablet. I forgot about Zuplenz! Go check out the prices yourself. I've used the Ipad, and if they think for 1 second that you will be able to use 10% of their 34 slides, they are insane! What about pharmacy stocking? What about managed care coverage? As far as the 5 DAY LAUNCH MEETING being a non-stop role play fest, if they have one oz. of brain in their heads, they need to do whatever they can to pump up the sales force, not kick their ass!

Wouldn't hold out hope for the launch meeting being fun or anything close to it. It's going to be a very, very long week.

Well the launch meeting is almost here. I don't think I've ever dreaded a meeting more than I have this one. i really don't know why though. IF they maintain a small company atmosphere and not, as others have suggested on here, try to be big pharma, maybe this will go fine.

But, I have creeping in the back of my mind, the possibility that their idea of "fun" would be a detail contest! Maybe, just maybe, they will actually go out of their way to make this meeting fun, entertaining and informative.

My guess is after the meeting is over, we are all going to be asking the same question...Why did we sign on to this contract? The meeting will tell the tale.

well day one was nothing but getting us ready to do non stop role playing. And their announcement that they have signed a contract through 2014 is just to keep us from quitting and going onto something else, they can still cancel the contract at any time. There are a lot of questions surrounding the language in the visual aid and if we get into a tough conversation with a doctor about head to head versus Zofran then we are screwed other than to say we have the indication, well so what, which one works better.
