Duchesnay Drug, Training and Launch Meeting

8 HOURS OF ROLE PLAYING!!! Are you serious??? Good God, the sales force will be so damn demotivated by then, I don't think Jesus himself could motivate them! And I call BS on the acts you mentioned above!! Never going to happen. This company will make a HUGE mistake if they beat the hell out of the reps at a launch meeting! They need to forget the big pharma of role-play-till-you-drop mentality. They have a chance to really come out of the gate charging, but battering the reps won't do it. Keep hoping that some small company will go their own way, and not try to copy big pharma. Also, the contract goes through 12/31/13, not a year. In fact, I call BS on your whole damn post!

I agree. The role playing, acts, etc. were from launch meetings attended at forest. Yes, we role played 8 hours-nightmare

I can tell you that I will role play to a certain point, I've never role played 8 hours with any company and if that happens I will get on the first flight out and leave. I don't need this any job that bad. I know training has to be intense to a point but it does nothing for a rep to be bombarded and get no sleep while they are up late role playing on their own for the next days video taped or bullshit stand up role plays in front of a group.

Lets hope that things will be different at Duchesnay. Unfortunately, Publicis is involved. Folks, this is a antihistamine and vitamin B6. It's not a complicated oncology drug. Let's give management the benefit of he doubt, and hope they use a little common sense, do a little role play at the table, PULL NOBODY UP FRONT, go over how to do an expense report, call reporting etc. and the HAVE SOME DAMN FUN, and celebrate something that has the potential to be really, really big. It can be exciting to be on the ground level with a company like this, or it can be just another pharma job/nightmare. It's all up to management. The tone for the future of the company will be set at this meeting.

If they were really smart, they would skip the damn meeting, save money, and have a half-day district meeting and be done with it!

Just had f2f interview earlier today. Los Angeles area. DM seemed nice. However he indicated not the decision maker. Really? Weird right? Oh well nice guy, Kurt was his name. He also said finalists would b skipped over the weekend as they needed to fill and have offer letters out in a timely manner. Low ball salary oh well. Think of it this way work 8 months make $50-60k not too bad. Updates please.

My understanding is all offers have to be made by Wed. Those that get chosen good luck. $400 for 100 doses. You can get 100 doses of Unisom and Vit B6 for like $12.

If that price is right, and it does not have OUTSTANDING managed care coverage, it is DOA! Duchesnay simply cannot be THIS stupid! If the price is correct, then I smell the influence of big pharma and consultants!

This contract is a lose lose. If the product flops you will be out of a job in 8 months or less beat up from selling a POS and if it takes off a generic company will come in and start making a generic version, because the name may be new but the product is over 30 years old.

How little self respect do you have to want to sell this product. Huge territories, bad millage and car allowance, low base pay, and a joke of a product. On top of that you will be lucky if it last 8 months. This is to pharma what rock bottom is to an a alcoholic.

I'm afraid your right. Now the rumor is 8 hours of role playing at the launch meeting!! Are you kiddin' me?? If the price is sky high and you have poor coverage, then you are right, it will be DOA. Heard they are low balling the salaries too. Does Publicis ever wonder why they don't get a lot of huge contracts? The Merck contract with Inventiv, I believe, provides a company car/gas card!!!!!!!

My guess is that Duchesnay is not totally committed to this contract. People that take the offers will be looking elsewhere from day 1.

I excepted an offer, and have an interview next week with another company! I accepted the offer out of desperation. I just don't get a very good vibe about this contract. Very small company with little money = trouble. But on the other hand, working for a small company COULD be a blessing if it was managed right.

I think the fact that the contract is only for 8 months, answers any question you may have about their "commitment" to the drug!

And the fact that they are only hiring a little over 70 reps NATIONWIDE, gives you some idea how committed they are!

I decided not to go after this one and I am glad that I did. Even the recruiter didn't have anything to say good about it. Sounds like Duchesnay has 0 commitment with only a handful of reps out there. Sounds like a set up for failure. Looks like Publicis has run out of contracts.

I am glad I have a job for at least the next 8 months, but I am looking as hard as I can to find full employment. I've got a feeling this is not going to be a good 8 months. The pressure to get this drug going in such a short period of time is going to be relentless. Just want to get through the miserable launch meeting and get on with it. I'm not excited about this one at all. Not at all.

I think that's everyone's sentiment when you have a contract this incredibly short. 8 months is ridiculous. The territories are beyond big. It will be interesting to see how they run the launch meeting. Will they beat the hell out of us, or will they make a serious attempt to show that they are committed to the drug and allow us to actually have fun at the meeting? My guess is they will beat the hell out of us! Nothing like leaving a launch meeting demotivated!

Oh well, maybe we will all be pleasantly surprised!
