Dova Pharmaceuticals

We keep hearing another layoff is coming soon and the managers never give a straight answer. Does anyone have any real information on this?

Of course it is...but it'll be a small one. Waiting to see how close they get to the year end number then reduce the size of the team. The whole combined team with both products was a desperate experiment to try and hit the massive forecasts. Failed. Each team needs about 40 reps apiece to get the job done.

Yes, everything is rushed with the incompetent fools that Sobi has as its senior management team.

First layoff on 9/8 with the dumbest RBD split imaginable -- some states had multiple reps and RBDs covering the same state and even had cities split with different reps reporting to different mgrs! Now a 1/1 realignment to correct some of these idiotic mistakes. Like the NE RBD told her team during the POA breakout if you don't like it you can leave. BTW primary care mgmt style works best with primary care reps aka legacy Sobi reps. More experienced reps less so. If mgmt was smart instead of arrogant they would offer voluntary separation packages in January. Reality is they don't care whether their reps give a shit about Sobi or not.

voluntary separation packages would be a disaster because literally dozens of people would volunteer to get out. Most of the competent hem onc people are leaving in the first quarter anyway with four startups hiring.

I have been in oncology since the late 90's.

Oncology reps have less activity than any other specialty reps due to access. We have less in person meetings, less lunches, less dinners. Your conferences are 80% reps and 20% providers who won't talk to you. No other specialty has one a year lunches, RxVantage wackiness, doctors who block your emails.

The only benefit to being in oncology are the security of multiple product launches a year and a payscale at the top of the pharma rep ladder. Basically, you are a jumbo shrimp. Big deal.

Try not to make believe that Oncology is somehow special. It's primary care with expensive drugs.
You are a necessary evil and most of the reps in this space just phone it in.

Sounds like you're a primary care rep who thinks they're an oncology rep aka legacy Sobi rep all the way!

We are hearing its coming in January so they don't have to pay bonuses or LTI's or send anyone extra to the March meeting. They spent way too much $$ on CTI (HK even said this last week eg 1.7 B for a product producing 100M) and they are in desperation mode to cut costs.

They lied to us all before about layoffs and then fired the only manager who had the guts to call them on it so I don't believe anything they say. Keep posting the truth here!

They clearly paid way too much for pac, got totally blind-sided with mom, and now face even more new competitors in a very small, ultra-rare space. The goals they are demanding are impossible to achieve on label. Huge cuts coming, it's just a matter of time. Run. Now.

Heard that too and it would be consistent with the way Sobi treats their people. I'm not sticking around to find out, can't take the risk and with no stock it really isn't worth it

Thats exactly right. Why would anyone stay with this organization? Poor leadership, high goals, no equity. This place is for the untalented that can't find a better place to go. With 4 startups hiring in the spring, most of the talent will be gone shortly.

Why did they pay that much??? Because they are incompetent and CTI took full advantage of SOBI's lack of undertsanding of the current and FUTURE of the market. CTI laughed all the way to the bank$$$$ The reps made off with a ton of $ and will mpve on to the next start up

SOBI...aka little Amgen ( and their NA leadership) are left holding the bag and are reacting as AMgen has taught them...to whip people and not hold leadership ineptness accountable

These idiots also got blindsided with the Teva Eltrombopag approval last week! Generics will now flood the market, profits will tank, and the hematology layoff will be very deep, comparable to the Synagis one. No future here.
