Dont Take Contract. You will Lost Respect of Everyone.

You are the perfect contract rep! You do not belong anywhere else and will never get another real job because of your lack of work ethic and motivation. Only losers call this business alot of stress. We are all very happy for you that you less $ and less stress. Now go breast feed your son buddy and give mama a break. She is stressed too.

Lack of motivation and work ethic. I am working and happy to be working, instead of complainning and bashing CSO reps. As I said I am happy to be working in this climate and make alot more than unemployment. You sound like a very insecure soul.

You are a douche bag.

No stress, no job security, no respect from anyone, poor benefits package, shit pay. There it is. Take it or leave it. The smart ones say no thanks. I learned the hard way.

The problem is once we sign on for these we can't go back to unemp. We would meed to be let go. Now I am stuck as well in a job making pennies more than unemployment paid and have ruined any chance of a good opportunity in the future.

You are correct in the fact that most of these temporary contract positions do not pay much more money than you would make collecting unemployment. With unemployment you can continue to interview and look for a respectable position 100% of the time. With these positions you can look and interview 90% of the time. It does not take much effort, ability or time to do this contract work.

idiot post number 2...

Can you even feed your kids with this type of pay? I interviewed last week and they gave me the range. I almost laughed out loud. Where the hell do you people live making this type of money?

No matter how you look at it, these contracts are not worth the time and effort to put into them. You go to training, you learn about products that more than likely will not do well bc the REAL reps could not get them off the ground, and upfront, you know it is temp. More times than others, the contract ends before it is actually said to end. Where are you at that point? Same place you were in the beginning. Never ending cycle that takes every bit of self esteem out of you. I have made the mistake of working contract and wish now that I had never done it. It has really hurt my chances with companies not contract. They do not look at reps that have been contract and reps that have not. It is true. They think of us as desperate reps that took a temp position. In most cases that is true, when we could better ourselves if were could be patient. Getting out of pharma is better than staying in contract, unless you think so low of yourself. Non contract companies do NOT have any respect for contract reps. I found the hard way as well. If I could go back, I would have never been involved with this company.

Big Pharma is for those that can still get it. Very few are able to get these jobs! Contract reps to not qualify for big Pharma on any level. Contract folks, that says it all. Here today gone tomorrow! With horrible pay and career suicide. I accepted a contract job about a year ago and it was the worst mistake I ever made. It destroyed my Pharma chances and I now am selling insurance. This is a tough business at first but I should be ok once I get it built up. But I am at least proud of what I do and i don't have to be called a contract worker that was so humiliating for me.

Congrats on your transition.

I am not an idiot, just honest. To the person who posted that, you keep telling yourself that you are somebody being a temp fill in. That is all you and I are here. Sample dropping temps. Arrogance is not anywhere in this equation, just the simple truth. Dude, you better wake up and smell some coffee!!

I call BS that working for a contract reduced or eliminates your chances in Pharmaceuticals. No one forces you to put the contract on your resume! You can work the contract and say you are still looking or that you are consulting, etc,. I worked in contract for a # of months after displaced from pharma and did not put the "experience" on my resume. I am now back in pharmaceuticals. This does not require a high IQ to compute!

Hey Bubba, I am a direct sales rep in biopharma. Just wanted to see why contract reps were always pissed.

Being unemployed on your resume for over 6 months will eliminate your chances of getting called. I took a contract and am Ok with it. Big Pharma is laying off evertwhere. CSO is the wave of the future. I was w a big Pharma Co for 15 yrs and we all got let go due to being bought by another Comp. Many friends in Pharma cant even get a CSo comp to call them. I am happy I have a job and a paycheck. The arrogance of some of these posters are amazing. I know people with Masters degrees that are waiters because they cant find work. Make the best of what you have.
