Thats what the orgional poster and those that bash as well don't get. Big Pharma days are gone and if you want to work in the industry the opportunities are with a CSO. Unfortunatley being a pharma reps does tag you as not really being a sales person so obtaining a sales job that pays as much or better outside of pharma is tough. I think we would all gladly take an opportunity outside that pays as well or better but I options to make the same are limited. It is what it is and pays the bills.
 






Big Pharma is for those that can still get it. Very few are able to get these jobs! Contract reps to not qualify for big Pharma on any level. Contract folks, that says it all. Here today gone tomorrow! With horrible pay and career suicide. I accepted a contract job about a year ago and it was the worst mistake I ever made. It destroyed my Pharma chances and I now am selling insurance. This is a tough business at first but I should be ok once I get it built up. But I am at least proud of what I do and i don't have to be called a contract worker that was so humiliating for me.

Kudos to you for taking a chance and getting out of pharma all together. The problem is that the pay is pretty good up front and you get sucked in with the benefits such as a car etc. I am sure a couple of years from now you will look back and wish you left pharma a long time prior. Jump from one piss ass contract to another. You will be viewed the same as fast food teenagers. McDonalds a few months, Wendy's a few months, Chick Filet a few months...etc... you can never take back all the jumping and job losses. Get out and get a real job many of us have and just trying to help you that honestly think you have no choice. Make a way for yourself dont just sit there is a deadend entry level job. Have some self respect
 






I know contract reps that have been hired by the company they contracted with - and in this market - jobs not contract may not last either depending on many factors. If you like being a rep, a contract is better than not being a rep. I never mistreated any contract person and anyone that does has some wacky issue. Good Luck.
 


















Yoga is for weirdos. I head right to my personal trainer, then the mall. I don't have much time eft in the day for signatures. Since it is contract it doesn't matter and no one cares.
 


















The truth is we are all shit heads for accepting these low life positions. Maybe we should grow a set and say fuck you when they offer us the ridiculous pay. I am so happy I have my other job to pay the bills and have some dignity about. This job is kinda like bartending 10 cities away. I don't anyone to know I am a fucking contract rep. My mom said, honey what's that?

You are correct. Do not let the job define you, you should define the job. Make yourself important by being good at it. If you make yourself indespensible you will be noticed. Sometimes you have to pay more dues than someone else to be successful, but you will be better for it and in the end you will recognized and rewarded.

Keep telling yourself that! There are good jobs available to those that qualify. Sorry you think so little of yourself and your abilities that you think this is your only future and only option.
