CV/Renal Specialty Layoff

This whole thing was overdue, our organization is so much better without all the repeated failures. With Andexxa and Jessica we were masterful with celebrating mediocrity. The 2 CBDs were simply insufficient as well. Putting an end to it is good business. Bye Bye

Does anyone have insight to how it’s determined who is retained and who is layed off? Performance? Tenure? Geography?
They contract it out so no one can they were discriminated against. By doing that, performance means absolutely nothing in determining your fate. Last year, the number one DSM in the country was laid off 3 months after her return from Rome for winning COE.

And what does that tell you? When performance is not a determining factor in layoffs, that tells you they know the system is rigged, and managed care coverage coupled with practitioner's intrinsic beliefs regarding products significantly determine product success at the territory level. I mean, how many times have we seen vacant territories rank in the top 20% -or even top 5 overall?! I've personally seen it many times with several companies.

What will Jessica do now? This is a legendary failure - folks are beginning to share the behind the scenes story - not good Jessie

Many are wondering what goes into these sizing and restructures. I cannot speak to what AZ did, but I have done many resizing exercises this year for other companies. You get the same amount of calls from one inside sales rep as you do from 5 field reps. Most companies are going down to 50-75 field reps.

Go peddle your bullshit somewhere else. Not on a thread about hundreds of reps that just got laid off during the holidays.

Doctors barely have time to talk with you when you're standing right in front of them. If you think they're going to get on the phone or on a Zoom with an inside salesperson, you're delusional. Or full of shit.

Used to be a AZ rep. My new company tried the phone/zoom thing. It was an epic fail. They found it took over 350 contacts to get one doctor for a brief interaction. We have since laid off the either inside sales force and the VP that came up with that great idea has been sent to some loser project to over see it. Sorry to hear about the layoff. I know it is tough. Even worse this time of year. Hope everyone finds something better quickly.

How did resisting technology work out for Kodak and Blockbuster? Field sales for pharma has been contracting since the Sunshine Act. I resized two teams the past two weeks with a 5:1 ratio, have you done anything in pharma besides being a rep?

Inside reps make 35-40 calls per day compared to 7-9 calls per day for a field rep. I imagine even the most disconnected pharma executive can do basic math. When does it ever make sense to pay more and get less?

Unfortunately, your math on inside sales reps is spot on. The days of thee field rep are diminishing quickly.

When are you clowns going to come to the realization that AZ is one of the biggest hell holes in pharma. Management comes straight from overseas. Don't think for a moment that any US market decisions are made here in the US. The company exists to keep the stock price relevant and competitive in the pharma sector and to make sure the upper management nimrods can continue to make their multi-million dollar mortgages and Lamberghini, Mercedes, RR, Porsche and Ferrari car payments. AZ is a monkey see monkey do company. They will follow Pfizer and Merck on every move they make. If you want to see the future follow these companies and AZ will not be far behind. Bottom line.....earning are up, stock price is up and guess what, you get laid off. You are commodity, kinda like wheat and pork bellies. Feel good about getting the ax. You just got cut from the $hithole team!

It’s called capitalism. You think they’re gonna keep jobs of little people. Grow up! I’m so happy that billionaires will continue to pay less in taxes.

AZ just tried the inside rep role with the Visa X team just last year, predictably it was a total failure and they quietly shut the project down
