Cadence will be hiring soon

Hey you are so smart.. Let me guess. Did you work at Scios in your past life? What a brainsurgeon!

Not you again! Man, you really sound like a psycho. Look in the mirror for a long time - you are so pathetic. Regarding Scios, everyone knows you have burned by them - simply because you are a complete incompetant moron. Scios didn't want you and Cadence doesn't want you. You are a loser and a dimwit.

Don't you think that is enough? The wear and tear on your car will cost you a lot of money - not to mention aggrevation of having to take care of everything. What is even more shocking is that they dictate what kind of car you can buy or cannot buy - this is pathetic. The car can only be 5 years old and after that first year you will need to replace it (at your cost of course). In addition, there is no 401K and they do not offer long term disability. A company that doesn't offer long term disability - scary! I also hear that the insurance (because it is very basic) is very costly on a monthly basis. So, even if you have been offered a base salary you were happy with, you need to realize that all these short-comings unfortunately offset that. For many, the 401K (especially when companies normally offer a match) could mean more that $10,000 a year loss alone.

Also, the mere fact they are new should be ample reason they offer options to the reps. It is a sign that "you are part of this company and we are investing in you" - they gave them to all of management - why not to the reps? The reasoning: you have no risk because you won't be hired on until the drug is approved. This is a huge laugh considering everything is a huge risk. There are many companies out there that offer large amounts of shares and the drug has been approved.

The spending budget is a joke as well. They have no clue the access issues with the hospitals - especially being a drug that is not currently on formulary. This means you will need to spend a lot of money upfront in the offices for lunches and breakfasts to truly establish relationships and make true impact. The bottom line is that these are all signs that everything offered will be minimal and cheap - basically nickle and diming on everything. These are all huge red flags. If you want an enormously successful launch, thjen they need to put their top money and resources forward - it is that simple. If they don't have adequate money, then it is their job to find it somehow.

Wow, I didn't really consider all that you mentioned, but that may be because I wasn't aware that there was no long term disability, and that the health plan was so weak. I knew about the lack of a 401k, the lousy company car package and stipulations such as car type and car age(which has no rhyme or reason), but not the rest. I never did get a copy of the actual benefit package, did you or are you going by what you have been told?

Maybe the grass isn't greener on the other side considering I really don't know what management will be like, so I can't rely on that as a primary reason to move over. Whether the drug is approved in the short term or the long term; it may require a second look at everything. Thanks for your perspective!

Awww did your feelings get hurt? If anyone read your last post they would know you are a wierdo. Now go do the right thing - and get medicated

No need for meds. I get off on your patronizing speculation and have a pretty good buzz going from your posts this week. Actually, I look forward to your insults, because they reveal so much about you.

Since you are all knowing, be sure to let everyone know when you leave cafepharma to start your own vanity blog (we won't know in advance because your powers are so rare).

Before this post falls off....lets discuss the improvements Cadence could make for us all to remain loyal:

- Standard car allowance of $800/month & remove restrictions on what cars
- 100% paid gas with gas card
- 401k 4-6% match
- sign on stock options bonus 1000 shares
- reduced stock purchase plan for all employees

Realistic suggestions for those in similar companies....

You are welcome. Since I have a pretty large family and I am the single source income, I not only asked my manager about all the specifics, but I called HR directly as well. Unfortunately, all is true. After really sitting down this weekend, we have decided as a family I will stay put until I can find a job with better and stable benefits. Good luck to all! It does make you wonder if the majority of people that came onboard in management if they really would have taken the job if they were not offered their stock options. I would now venture to say they probably wouldn't have come onboard.

Well, we have all phoned each other by now. I knew of 6 people coming on to Cadence and all six are backing out of this opportunity. Unfortunately, I don't have a good feeling as well and was scared to see how the poor benefits would work. I have another interview with a company Tuesday and you really come back to earth when you hear about the standard benefits. The company I am looking at has a great 401K match, great insurance coverage, and long term disability. They do not offer a company car, but the car allowance is $750 a month and .42 a mile and taxes are not taken out of that total. In addition, they give $3000 towards the purchase of a car. I have to put the benefits on the top of my priority list for my family, so Cadence more than likely won't be an option for me. I have a feeling we won't hear anything until Fall anyway at the earliest.

Really???? You mom and dad must be very proud of the person they raised. If you are married with kids - I can only imagine what you are teaching them. Look in the mirror and grow-up.

By the way, I've noticed you use the "Mirror" word a lot. Are you ugly or something, or maybe you like the Michael Jackson song.

WHAT COMPANY?

After having long discussions with my family over the weekend, I have decided to pursue other jobs. I will keep Cadence as a distant possibility, but if I get another decent offer in the meantime, I will definitely take it. Like a lot of the other posts, I had a hard time dealing with the lack of benefits, but was willing to still go for it. Now that issues have come up, I see this as a personal wake-up call to look elsewhere. I really didn't like the idea of giving up my car and 401k match. I estimated that without my 401k match, I would lose about 14k per year. I have a 2 year old BMW at home that my husband used to drive and I wouldn't even be able to use it. When I look back, there have been many red flags and signs not to take this job, but I really like a lot of the people that are currently onboard. Now I have decided this truly isn't the opportunity for me and I am hoping to get something else. I have contacted some of my old recruiters on Friday and have some good leads already. They will be shocked I am not taking the job.

Can you share some recruiter's names?
