Cadence will be hiring soon

If your employed now and are on the Cadence contingency contract, I don't think this delay has much of a negative impact. Continuing to interview only makes sense to always find your worth and better your complete package. I know it feels great to have Cadence on the burner while I try to find an equal opportunity with better benefits or a better opportunity overall! If not, Cadence is still worth the risk to me to avoid upcoming downsizing. Worth the risk anyway in my opinion. Just my 2 cents.

Oh man. I am bummed about this delay! Am I just burned out in our industry thinking the "Hay Day" of pharma/biotech is coming to an end? I tend to think Acute care is the last frontier. Generics and PODS are killing us out here.

Whats the next industry for us? I keep looking for Green Windmill sales or Wind Farm management.

"deficiencies in manufacturing facility"? Well, this sounds quite generic. No specifics?

I don't have a dog in this fight, just know someone waiting in the wings, and I have to say that this decision, or lack thereof, smells of something other than manufacturing deficiencies.

Anyway, for those waiting, good luck!

I totally agree with you and you have written great advice. Everyone that has signed a contigent offer, whether they have a job or not, should continue to look and interview for other opportunities because there are no guarantees. I know of two of the contigent reps that will be taking other opportunities because they were smart to continue to look and didn't put all their eggs in one basket with Cadence. The delays are dure to manufacturing, and despite these issues being minor, the other poster was correct in timeframe. The absolute best case scenario will be about 2 months from now. More than likely, however, it will be 3rd or 4th quarter of 2010 unfortunately. Because of this delay, they will lose a lot of people and you cannot blame them. One thing that may end up happening is that Cadence will improve their benefits package becasue it is actually horrendous for the high level of successful reps they want to attract. There were many that were not 100% onboard because of the crappy and insulting car allowance.

Help me out here, I know the car allowance sucks and there aren't any options, but what other specific benefits com up short? Thanks.

Don't you think that is enough? The wear and tear on your car will cost you a lot of money - not to mention aggrevation of having to take care of everything. What is even more shocking is that they dictate what kind of car you can buy or cannot buy - this is pathetic. The car can only be 5 years old and after that first year you will need to replace it (at your cost of course). In addition, there is no 401K and they do not offer long term disability. A company that doesn't offer long term disability - scary! I also hear that the insurance (because it is very basic) is very costly on a monthly basis. So, even if you have been offered a base salary you were happy with, you need to realize that all these short-comings unfortunately offset that. For many, the 401K (especially when companies normally offer a match) could mean more that $10,000 a year loss alone.

Also, the mere fact they are new should be ample reason they offer options to the reps. It is a sign that "you are part of this company and we are investing in you" - they gave them to all of management - why not to the reps? The reasoning: you have no risk because you won't be hired on until the drug is approved. This is a huge laugh considering everything is a huge risk. There are many companies out there that offer large amounts of shares and the drug has been approved.

The spending budget is a joke as well. They have no clue the access issues with the hospitals - especially being a drug that is not currently on formulary. This means you will need to spend a lot of money upfront in the offices for lunches and breakfasts to truly establish relationships and make true impact. The bottom line is that these are all signs that everything offered will be minimal and cheap - basically nickle and diming on everything. These are all huge red flags. If you want an enormously successful launch, thjen they need to put their top money and resources forward - it is that simple. If they don't have adequate money, then it is their job to find it somehow.

Thank you, this is exactly the kind of feedback I wanted. Yeah, I think the car and options are enough, but I'm at a company where reps are continuously shit on and not trusted so I was ready to make the move. Since Thursday I've been pondering and I think it is best for my family for me to endure the current situation until the next opportunity comes along. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

No problem...I am in the exact same position with my family. Take care.

That's because you are obviously a skill-less, immature, incompetant punk...just look in the mirror. Clearly you wanted this job bad and spent the time interviewing and are so bitter because of your short-comings. Look in the mirror jerk and you will realize this. If you were any bit of a strong person with integrity, you would simply move on. Bottom line - they didn't want you because you weren't good enough. Truth hurts sometimes. I am sure Chris treated you with respect and then you have to show your true colors.

Poor baby, did I touch a nerve? I have moved on Punk but when someone acts very cocky during the interview, sometimes its nice to see it come back to them. Good luck with your future there. By the way, I only interviewed becasue I was downsized, afterall what is so fascinating about selling Tylenol, Ha Ha. I'm in Devices now my friend. I guess I'm not so skill-less and incompetant BIATCH!!

After having long discussions with my family over the weekend, I have decided to pursue other jobs. I will keep Cadence as a distant possibility, but if I get another decent offer in the meantime, I will definitely take it. Like a lot of the other posts, I had a hard time dealing with the lack of benefits, but was willing to still go for it. Now that issues have come up, I see this as a personal wake-up call to look elsewhere. I really didn't like the idea of giving up my car and 401k match. I estimated that without my 401k match, I would lose about 14k per year. I have a 2 year old BMW at home that my husband used to drive and I wouldn't even be able to use it. When I look back, there have been many red flags and signs not to take this job, but I really like a lot of the people that are currently onboard. Now I have decided this truly isn't the opportunity for me and I am hoping to get something else. I have contacted some of my old recruiters on Friday and have some good leads already. They will be shocked I am not taking the job.

Welcome to the biggest wind farm on the planet.

You are here - and its bookmarked in your favorites folder. Here at the Wind Farm, people spout off meaningless and inflammatory hot air. And we keep at it, powerless (by choice) to stop.

So what indeed is the last frontier for pharma/biotech? Blogging? Creating uncertainty? Looks like there are plenty of "professionals" here devoted to that cause.

What is up with the cryptic nonsense. You sound like a wierdo

This will likely be a class II resubmission which gives the FDA a new 6 month clock once the resubmission is received. Looks like launch won't be until 4Q2010, best case.

You are totally correct! Best advice to all - unless you are happy where you are working, start actively looking for another job now. This will be a very long delay!
