Cadence will be hiring soon

xxxxxxxxxxxxxx I think you are doing pretty good on your current base. I am about the same. I agree the industry is volatile and Cadence could be a great move if your concerned about downsizing. Always better to move when you have a job! I also understand how it's good to get outside opinions too when you are so wrapped up in the details. To me, even without 401k and pension and a weak car allowance, it's a good idea to take new opportunities knowing there are risks. Since there is a risk with your current company and a risk with an unknown start up company.......seems like the better base with a growing future is the way to go! Good Luck! I wish others on here contributed equally as you about serious topics.

I agree with above post! Take the Cadence job! I sell another product not even related to Cadence and I am already hearing about this IV coming. Doctors want it for lots of reasons. Most I am not aware of yet, but our drug studies in Europe were terrible because most of the patients were on this IV Acetaminophen. My drug works better when narcotics are used, so we have heard about this drug coming and how it might impact us. Doctors are talking about it. Seems like a good move...and not to mention....it will be used all over the hospital and has a huge safety history. Heck, I sound like I work for them already. Take it....you will be happy.

No offense, but you sound like management and the message 5 minutes earlier sounds like you posted that too.

I agree - this sounds like management at Cadence. It will be interesting to see what happens on Friday. Strange that the stock really fell today and analysts are calling this unpredictable. It is all or nothing with this company. If they decide they want more data which could happen with the small sets of patients in the current trials, they could be looking at doing another study which won't happen overnight. No matter how you slice it, the situation is still a big risk and the lack of benefits is frightening.

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Shares of Cadence Pharmaceuticals Inc. (CADX) fell Monday after a research note called the risk/reward scenario on the stock "unappealing" heading into a potential approval for the drug company's pain and fever drug Acetavance.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to announce by Friday if it will approve Acetavance, which is an intravenous formulation of the common pain killer acetaminophen.

Oppenheimer analyst John Newman wrote in a note dated Monday that his firm is cautious heading into the FDA action date for the drug.

Shares of Cadence were recently down 8.7% to $9.59, trading at more than three times the stock's average daily volume.

In the best case scenario--an outright FDA approval--Oppenheimer thinks the shares could potentially reach $14. In a middle of the road scenario, which would be a complete response letter from the FDA requesting additional data analyses, the analysts see a potential $2 downside.

If the worst scenario occurs, and the FDA issues a complete response for Acetavance requesting additional clinical trials, there's a $5 downside potential on the stock, Oppenheimer said. The firm maintained its perform rating on the stock.

Leerink Swann analyst Gary Nachman estimates there's a $2 upside to the stock if the drug gets the FDA approval, which he thinks is likely.

He declined to quantify the potential downside risk, but he said it's likely greater than the upside potential since all the company's valuation is tied to this product. If approved, this will be Cadence's first product on the market.

"This is essentially the company," he said.

The company couldn't be immediately reached for comment.

The stock took a hit last November when the FDA pushed back by three months the target date for the ruling on Acetavance.

I appreciate your honesty. It can be a tough call. The car is what may find upsetting the most because Cadence could scrape up the funds to do it if they wanted. I am also worrried that this will turn into a very short time. If the drug is successful, you can pretty much guarantee Cadence will sell it off and all the reps more than likely would lose their jobs since most big pharmas have their own field forces. It is easy to be mesmerized by a higher base, but when you see that all the extras are gone, it usually doesn't make up for it.

It is also interesting to see that the stock prices did drop today. Those that think this is a guarantee could be in for a rude awakening.

Surely, you don't belive that the only drug this company intends on marketing is IV Acetaminophen? You sound as if to say that after the initial success of IV Acetaminophen Cadence will just sell out to big pharma; the intention is to bring on other drugs solely used in the hospital setting. Why would any of the management folks spend the past 4 - 6+ years establishing this company for simply one drug? Makes no sense.

Let me guess..
1) you have been in your own little world "big pharma"
2) you are a true Scios idiot
3) you are Scios
4) go Scios go!

Are you actually serious right now? The company barely has enough money to launch one product let alone have enough capital to buy other drugs. Sure, every little company will say "we intend on purchasing other drugs in the future" - well we don't always get what we want. Look around and check out other fledgling companies such as Cadence. I am not saying that if the first drug is a major economic hit that the company won't try to purchase other agents - and that could happen. More than likely however, there would be a buyout, which these days is most commonplace. They gobble up all the stock and it is a done deal - happens all the time.
What the management who you say "spent the last 4 to 6 years" establishing the company will get is HUGE profits from the sale and their stock options - and no reps received options. Anyone that has made huge amounts of money was through stock options. Most of the management however was just hired on this past year and received stock options - they would gain a lot with a buyout. There is still a big question whether it will be approved this time around - anyone's guess at this moment. In all reality, if the drug does get approved (whether it be now or down the road), and the drug is successful - the big pharmas of the world will pounce and there will be a corporate buyout. They will have no need for the Cadence reps and ultimately they will be let go - just business. This is why many reps are upset they are not receiving options, because unlike what management wants them to believe there is no risk, there is a huge risk on all levels. If the drug does really well, and there is a buyout - then you don't even get to reap the benefits of huge stock profits.

Best time I ever had was at Scios. Made more money than I could spend and had a great time. I am sorry for those who missed out, if Cadence is half the company Scios was, we wil do great and make a lot of money and sell the company and start over. If you are worth a shit, you will get options and a lot of them. Good Luck to all...

That's just it, they should have offered options and they didn't. Let's just see if they get approved this week.

No, no. Not management. Just sharing what good things I have heard and how it effected the European data vs American data.

Who exactly are you targeting with this? I work with surgeons and they don't seem interested. But when I ask the anesthesiologist, they are more open to it. Have not talked with any ped surgeons though.

This med would find significant use almost immediately. Most, if not all, of the euro data is with multimodal pain therapy in the OR theater, reducing dose and frequency of synergistic narcotics. The unmet need would be realized immediately in the ER, not only for pain, but for fever in patients unable to take oral meds, and don't want suppositories. Pediatric flu season would be huge!

I was at Scios - I did not get an interview with Cadence - yeah I was a little bitter. But hell I hope this product gets approved. We need the FDA to approve more stuff so we can all have jobs and create and demand salaries that we are use too. Good luck with apporval - too many people on the street and we need jobs created!
