Does his name rhyme with Wave Sartee?

He has been listed numerous times already, but he should be listed again - Derek Brewer is simply one of the best DMs in existence. He sets the standard and has turned out a truckload of highly capable reps.

This is no joke. There's something about a manager who treats his reps like trustworthy, responsible adults.

Derek Brewer: no power trip, just made up of good'ol confidence, loyalty and personality. DM's like this just earn respect by being good people. Way too few and far between. Derek: come back to Wisconsin anytime!

Used to work with Derek when he was a rep in Atlanta working under Todd Carroll. He is a great guy and I'm not surprised at his success. Way to go Derek!! Not many managers can pass the Cafe Pharma review like you have!

He has to be the most annoying person in the panhandle.

Evidently you havent met K. Salva..... from Pensacola. What a tool....already irritating with that military accent that is so annoying, but trying to talk with his head up Wave Sartee's ass is even more bothersome. My understanding is that these two do alot of "diving" together. Maybe they should change their names to Kneel and Bob!! Ohhh! Or is that what they do? Old Mother Hubbard.....I fucked her!!!

Bob Thompson IS the all time best D.M. at Novartis. He retired about 2 years ago because of his new Regional Director(Rich Miacco). This man spent 29 years at Novartis. Been through the battles and had his reps back. The reps had his back because he knew they were the ones who were out in the field selling pills.

Seems like now adays managers at Novartis could care less about their people/tenure and relationships they have built through the years. My experience with a new manager is just plain sad. They watch out for their own backside and don't consider who makes them money. They cow down to their regionals and are "yes" men. Saddening. Back in the day, the district managers were the voice of the reps. Not anymore. Hope some day it will turn back around.

My vote is Bobby T!!

So True.

He should teach a class at one of the RPM's on how to earn a rep's loyalty and respect. He is such an easy guy to respect, and his management style is so NOT arrogant. What a breath of fresh air...made me want to actually get out there and work!

Worst? Dan Maring. Hands down
here goes:

1) The sheer definition of micro-manager

2) Confrontational on field rides, to the point that it is detrimental to the rep's business

3) Utterly uninspiring and lacking any motivational ability whatsoever

4) Despite having significant prior field time across multiple disease states, never offers up any competitive insights into product positioning or counteracting sales efforts of the competition

5) Inspires distrust in his reps and manages with indirect threats thereby keeping reps in a state of fear

Do we need to go further?

I hate his fucking guts. He shouldn't be in charge of anyone's career. Seriously, it should be illegal to make reps sit in the car all day with such a slimy idiot. Talk about uncomfortable and agonizing. Not to mention how embarassing it is to take him in front of customers. What a poor representation of Novartis!

Confirmed. He is an equal opportunity dickhead. Doesn't matter if you're a nice, polite, reliable, hard-working, reputable or successful rep. He will inevitably and invariably (despite what he may have his superiors believe) develop a hateful and uncomfortable relationship with each rep he gets his greasy hands on. There is NO reward in working with/for Dan. No one of his low caliber of character should be in charge of anyone else's career, that's for damn sure. How does someone with his reputation get rehired in the SAME industry?!! It amazes me. He has run off almost 7 reps in his district in one year. And MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT that each and every one of those departures or terminations was motivated by the unpalatable presence of Dan. His year anniversary was in April and within 8 months of his duration here he had already created such an uproar that the HR department had to fly to Milwaukee, bring in the Regional Director, and every single rep out of their territories for an entire day to discuss our "unfortunate situation." The HR manager started with "We know we have a management problem, but we don't have enough to fire him on." She asked the group to open up and tell all. A blood bath ensued with a bunch of angry, slighted reps that had the rare chance to discuss his true colors openly. She simply couldn't get us to think of ONE good thing about our experiences with the guy. Of course, nothing came of it, and the only HR rep who had developed a great deal of empathy for our disadvantages, moved on and we were left with a new team of politically correct ass-lickers who will undoubtedly have to start from square one when Dan begins to proceed himself again. But everything happens for a reason, as I understand it, everyone who was motivated by Dan's presence to turn-over is better for it and they've found some really cool jobs with great companies (a lot more money too!). It still leaves the question how a person like that gets hired!

It's a huge waste of company time and resources to deal with a problem like Dan...PERIOD.
