Anesthesia and Emergency Positons

All this preparing is great, but remember you need a solid story that you can tell recruiters, hiring manangers and senior management why you are leaving Karl Storz.

Remember, this is "Emerging Markets". This is uncharted territory and was a gamble. The gamble failed and we cannot live off of $100k/yr. Recruiters and Top Management in other companies are VERY familiar with risks and company gambling. The bottom line is that everything sounded good, lots was promised, but it ended up flopping and not panning out (after MUCH effort). This happens all the time. What they care about is that you were hungry, hit the accounts like crazy and want to make as much money as possible. Besides, from the recruiters that I am talking to, our Airway Division is NO SECRET. The word is out about Emerging Markets failure in Storz and they are trying to give us a boost and help out.

I totally agree. Spoke with 3 recruiters last week and when they heard I was from KS Airway, they already knew the story..... Working an opportunity already and will be interviewing next week. Wish me luck!

Yeah, the recruiters that I'm working with have definitely spoken with current and previous AMAR reps and seem to have quite a forte at this point in presenting us to potential employers that has worked with previous AMAR reps. FYI, these recruiters found me through medreps. I have a 2nd face to face next week with a surgical sales company, $160k first year (for real this time). I would mention the company name, but some people on this site drill down and analyze too deeply... Don't need them figuring out what state this company is hiring for. May or may not get it, but at least I'm getting face time with real opportunities.

Good Luck!....I am in the process of updating my resume, getting letters of recomendations from my top customers as well as a list of references. I joined medreps the other day and will be sending out my resume right after labor day. This Airway Ship is sinking more & more each day and need to jump overboard sooner than later.....

Everyone should just quit tomorrow.

Thank you Mr. or Ms. Idiot. You are welcome to your own opinion. Many of see the writing on the wall and want to make sure we have a job in the future. If you take the 80/20 rule and apply it to CP ( 80% BS & 20% Truth), you have to admit that there are serious issues here in Airway. If you look at the division track record, sales, territories making quota and those possibly hitting 1 million in sales by year's end ( 2%). Then take realize that this division is on it's 3rd wave of hiring, you have be an idiot drinking the KS Koolaid that something doesn't smell right in El Segundo....Oh lets not forget our crack marketing team that no one ever hears from. Then add in the fact we don't advertise on the internet or have very little print campaigns. The result = FAILURE.

I have a family and need to support them. I was promised a lot by my RM & Mike L and all I was sold was fairy tale. We have limited products. high prices and almost no pipeline. The only thing that was decent was the training I received, that was top notch.

So if you want to remain in dream mode of developing your territory into a multi-million geography(without the repair 5% commission), good luck ....I think you would have a better chance hitting the lottery.

One more thing, my resume is out in the market and I am interviewing with other companies. I live in the real world and want to make $$$$. I ain't gonna make any $$$$ here at KS.

Let me tell ya something. As an AMAR I can tell you that after I sold our products to every hospital in my territory, I have nothing left to sell. "We have UNBREAKABLE GERMAN STEEL BLADES ON OUR VIDEO LARYNGOSCOPE!" Yes, and unfortunately they never break, only blow their LED lights and we had to replace under warranty. After a hospital bought 3 CMACS they didn't NEED another one. They already had our scopes and there was no business left for me. Now, had we come out with new products (or just something that was different that didn't make us a ME TOO company) maybe things would've been different. Pocket monitor? Please... It's heavy and needs to be reprocessed after being used!! That is NOT what the doctors want. McGrath is PLASTIC and out-sells us 10-1! Glide scope does not sell millions of Vid Latyngoscopes because their color is BLUE! It's because they THINK and put out a disposable solution!!! I sold HARD, hit quota and ended up with a huge raise in quota and nowhere to go to meet it. Now it is time to leave and find some new opportunities or else I will be living on salary and repairs. Looks like all of you are coming to realize the same. I wish you all luck...

DITTO!!! I'm pretty sure I know who wrote this and man, I can't agree with you enough. At this point I wish (well, WE WISH, according to what the "few" of us have talked about), is to just be laid off so we can spend 100% of our time interviewing and getting a WELL deserved severance. Gotta love it when our RM's come out and ride with us... "um, well, we're here to HELP where you need us". Yeah, because THEY know how to sell. Heard ML sucked it at selling and that's how he ended up in middle management. BW has been in Marketing FOREVER. How is this guy qualified for ANYTHING? Because Marketing has always sucked.

Man, I left (what I THOUGHT was a crappy job). Wish I never made that jump. KS was supposed to be a BIG name, now I find out we hold like 5% of the ENTIRE market and nobody knows who we are. I know someone in the company, and even SHE told me not to take the job. Feel like an idiot now.

MikeL, PLEASE JUST LAY US ALL OFF SO WE CAN INTERVIEW, YET COLLECT $$ at the same time. It's so clear we're done! We all love your passion, but maybe we can all collaborate and find YOU a rep position with us at a better company. If WE all know it's going down, we have to ASSUME that you are not stupid and know the same thing.... Yeah?

FYI...If they do have a layoff, severance will be shitty....usual severance is 1-2 weeks of salary per year of employment. So most of the Airway group is less than two years. As for unemployment, that stinks too. So your best bet is to look for a job while you have a job. Get paid, have benefits and go with the flow until something better comes along. I am interviewing about 1x a week, working 3 days and taking an office day. My manager is a idiotic fool and wouldn't know if I was in the field or not.

ML & BW as well as our top notch marketing team - MW,PD, SD & LP shhould thank the gods that they all have jobs the way this division is performing. If they were in any other industry, they would be gone!!

Agreed....Let KS pay me while I look for another job. As long as I am making sales, promoting KS in competitive accounts, working with my Core, H/N. FST & Inside Sales Rep, why would my RM think anything is wrong. I can do this job 2-3 days a week and have the rest of the time interviewing for something better.

Mr. Author...You hit the proverbial nail on the head. Not too much additonal sales once a CMAC is sold except for an additonal blade or no-fault agreement. No one wants a Bonfil or our flexible scopes (terrible image)...oooh wait, we are coming out with a new video scope, great, but not in the size most hospitals use. Bright Blades are too much dinero. I am basically hitting my quota and am having nightmares already on what 2013's numbers will be.

Going to take some advice and put my resume out there. Something is better than KS Airway, maybe I will become a Pampered Chef Consultant, probably more lucrative than here!

T00 Funny......True, but funny. Thanks for making my crappy day in the field a little bit brighter.

I wouldn't be surprised if this was written by an RM. God knows THEY aren't making any money, haha!

While in orientation, the rumors were that the RMs make 150k and then get an commission/bonus depending how well their respective region does.

If you ask me, they are overpaid for doing absolutely nothing....My RM doesn't work with me, doesn't provide support/coaching and is rarely available to talk on the phone. I guess he is busy watching Judge Judy from bed all day to pick up the phone and support his team.

The region managers sound like the airway marketing team - paid for doing nothing.

I was told they are also tired of everything. I agree all regional managers are worthless. They do it to get out of the everyday sales and most of them were terrible reps so this was job security!

Only makes sense---If their representatives cannot make money, how can they. They need their regions to be over 100%. I know that a two of the RMs- (DD & NH) overdose on the KS Koolaid on a daily basis. They need to wake up from their coma and realize the end of this division is coming sooner than later.

Just speak the truth.....The Region Managers all suck and together with Mike L & his crappy marketing department, the Airway Group isn't going anywhere but to the grave!

Like other posters, I have updated my resume, gotten my references/letters of recomendations in order and put together a great story why I want to leave KS.
Joining Medreps, Medzilla, Monster, Career Builder and Indeed.com tonight. Hopefully I will have an early Christmas present - a new job before the year is done.

Good Luck to everyone at Airway. Take it from me, the writing is in plain english on the wall, don't wait for KS to give you a shitty severance package along with unemployment. Protect yourself and start pre-planning for your next gig.

I'll admit when I'm wrong. I was one of the original posters telling you all to suck it up and get out and sell. Sadly, I've just completed a full round on ALL of my facilities. A couple warm/cold leads on some Brite blades, but everyone else (EVERYONE), said they would not look at new airway equipment for another couple of years. YEARS. They spent a lot of capital bucks and now they are good for a while. This = no sales for me until maybe 2014-2015. I tried selling "the future" a bit, they still had no interest. They told me, "hey, we find the cords just fine with what we got... It's not rocket science".

I'm with you all now. I don't want to go through the Holidays worrying about this. I'm out.
