Zone Director

ZDs will not last. Merck increased their overhead by hiring three people to replace one. Sales are not what management would like... Change is inevitable.

No additional over head with the three zone directors. Before the Robin demotion she had three Regional Directors reporting to her. They were the first to go before the wholesale RM and NAM changes and position eliminations. They now have three ZDs reporting to a division head and eliminated a useless individual. our distribution representation is weak and our corporate account effort is lacking. Our competitors are securing their products in corporate account formularies and we are being out sold and disregarded because of our lack of professionalism.

AH co management is the pits throughout the industry nowadays. That being said, MAH is noted as one of the worst of the worst.

If you're looking for good management, steer clear of the entire industry. It has become big pharma and you won't find what you seek.

Its unfortunate that the original ZD's are no longer here. Better than what we have now. They should have eliminated Robin and kept the 3 ZD's but that's how she survives, and she really thought she should have been head of the companion business. Now she is a joke and a disaster with distribution.

When you look at who is the head of companion business now; Robin does not look so bad.

The horrific view of what you have now makes anything look better.
Management is placed to produce bottom line results for the corporation. Our divisions managers are doing that For the most part on our backs. They continue to cut our incentive potential while raising prices. More money for the corporation. We all want Merck to do well but it should be done with professional marketing of quality products. We are cutting sales force expenditures and selling to every on line pharmacy as well as diverting to OTC farm stores. Correct AS? The upper managers just have to produce return and whatever that takes that is what they will do.For those RMs reading this on of your team has diverted major dollar amounts of product to a southern based farm supply chain. When that person has the # 1 region you will know why!

AS (southeast) does not have a clue what is going on. Arrogant and uninformed.

It is amazing that the corporate heads don't see the differences between human side medicine and animal health. A comparison with dental medical practices and veterinary practices is a more logical analogy. The issue is that most of the management infusion to animal health are displaced human side managers and that system is all they know. They continue to try to pound a square peg into a round hole. All animal health divisions are held to a number by corporate but not all go about it in the same manner. Animal health managers directing animal health divisions do far better with results, customer satisfaction and sales staff morale compared to those that have human side managers guiding animal health organizations.

Spot on! But this dynamic is not unique to Merck- it is the case with all AH divisions that are owned by a human pharma entity

Perhaps one of these fine Zone Managers should try Activyl on their own oets. then maybe they'd understand how hard it is to meet goals when you're trying to sell a grease slick that no one likes !

Yes, sometimes there is a noticeable "grease slick". The product works! Clinics that know in advance that you may see residual product on the hair and inform clients of this; are successful.
Distributor reps that complain are putting forth an excuse so they can put their efforts behind a competitive product. Thos MAH reps that use this excuse just can not sell! A lot of flack can be expected from the preceding comments, but they are fact.

Yeah it does work. However everyone bitches and the orders drop off. And I smile and explain over and over to everyone. lather, rinse, repeat, lather , rinse, repeat. Just gets sickening..can't we just make it non greasy ?
