Why would any AMERICAN who understands the FAILURE of SOCIALISM be for HC reform?

But cover will increase overall

What does coverage mean? Who doesn't have coverage now? We already have Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP and many other government-run healthcare programs... Most of which have higher denial rates than commercial insurance. Medicare is broke. Medicaid is broke. What gives you any confidence that government will now somehow effectively run Obamacare? Government is not the answer... Government is the problem.

You have to understand that big government lovers really do view the government as an extension of their family, almost like a father or mother. Once they start viewing the government as that way, you can't get a rational discussion with them. That is why I don't even bother any more.

Who doesn't have coverage now? My husband. He lost his job after 28 years when the company went bankrupt. You cannot get cobra if the company went bankrupt. He can't get insurance because he had a previous history of high cholesterol and trigs. even though his levels were back to normal with diet. The insurance company stated he was to high of a risk.To pay for insurance coverage it will cost over $750.00 a month just for him because of a pre-exsiting condition. I pay $300.00 a month with a $5,000 deductible. The insurance only covers well care visits. If I go for a scheduled colonoscopy and they find something they will not pay for it. It will be considered diagnostic. If I have the flu they will not pay for it.

My house is paid for and we only have one car payment which was needed since my husband lost his company truck. We do not have credit card payments. We are responsible and pay are bills. We are middle class and can't receive any help. Unless or until you have ever been in this situation you will never understand.

I really don't understand. You first claim that your husband can't get coverage, then later you state he could get coverage but it would cost $750 a month... So which is it? Apparently he can get coverage, but you prefer to have me and the rest of society pay for it rather than you. Is there anything else you want me to pay for? Admittedly, you have a crappy insurance plan, but why should we destroy our entire healthcare system because of your situation? And why do you assume that Obamacare is going to give you something better than what you currently have? Right now, Medicare and Medicaid have higher denial rates than private insurance. A Government takeover, which steals freedom and destroys the free-market system is not the answer. We need less government and more freedom and competition which always leads to lower prices and higher quality.

My mistake, let me try to help you understand and hopefully I get my point across.

He can't continue the current coverage he had for years with his previous insurance company because the company he worked for went into bankruptcy. No cobra is allowed. The reason no cobra is allowed is because there is no person at the bankrupt company to process the payments. That reasoning is silly since someone from the company always mailed the payment just like I or you would do to continue coverage. The same insurance company stated he could apply outside of cobra as a new individual and mail our payments in and requested his medical history. He was denied because of his previous history with chol & trig. which are now and was than at the time of application normal without meds.He was considered a high risk and denied. He was also 56 years of age.

Going to another insurance company would cost $750.00 a month which at this time we cannot afford.

we don't expect anyone to pay for our healthcare and besides who would help a responsible middle class family?

What I do not believe is that just because a company goes bankrupt does not mean the employee and the family should be denied coverage that he/she had previously.

I also don't believe that women should be charged a higher premium than men.

I don't know about more denials with Medicare and Medicaid. I just think that somethings need to be tweaked with insurance companies based on my experience.

I also believe that insurance companies should be able to cross over to all states. I'm not sure but I think it was Cigna that had an office in Philadelphia but would not insure PA. The company later moved to I believe CT.

I hope this helps you better understand my thoughts.

Thanks for the explanation, but isn't COBRA a federal government program?

Then why do we pay more for our healthcare than any other nation? Must be that free market.

First of all, you get what you pay for. If you want the most innovative, effective treatment options in the world, you have to pay for it. To the extent that healthcare is expensive, it has little to do with the free market. If you understand what a free market is, then you understand healthcare has very little in common with it. Look at almost any product or service in America... The ones that compete in a free market eventually see prices drop. Prices rarely drop once government gets involved. Prices might lower or become "free" for some groups of people but it is only because government forces others to pay more.

What a lot of twaddle. We pay more for our healthcare than any other nation and get some of the worst outcomes. Given the fact that we arguably have a freer market than those socialized markets.......

Which country has better outcomes? Be specific... Don't give me the generalized, typical liberal talking-points.

Obviously you are a typical liberal... Too lazy to actually read, so let me make this REAL EAZY for your simpleton-mind. "Health Outcomes" as defined by the WHO has very little to do with anything that any sane person would consider actual health outcomes. It has more to do with equality of access to health care.
