Why isn't Biotronik doing better?

whether 4.5% or 7.5% we are here. boston scientific uses our brady leads. sorin uses our tachy leads. i know bio reps who are doing well and could care less about the big 3's marketshare. it's what's going on in your own "local" market that matters. On the West Coast Bio is doing there job and market share is definitely better than 4.5%. Marketshare in Iowa and Nebraska and Wyoming.......may be zero. But, who wants to live there anyways!!! In better QOL areas you can rest assured that Bio is doing just fine and doctors are slowly coming around that the NY Times article was just bogus

Sales are down 38% on west coast for bio

lol, now that's a good one. units are up, asp's are down. but, bottom line, the big 3 would love for us to go away.

The question is...how many more RIFFs will it take for MDT to get down to competitive pricing? And when they get there...how much will the remaining Field Force be capable of providing? Probably nothing like what physicians have come to expect to date, so MDT will be pioneering remote re-programming and other strategies that will preclude the need for field reps. The per-diem cath lab nurse / industry clinical thing will fit nicely into this model, meaning even more savings while presenting the perception of "local" representation.

From now until this process is in place is how long Biotronik will have their strongest competitive advantage....price.

Bullshit!

West Coast Sales are down 3%...not bad considering a price erosion of almost 12% for the year because of national contracts.
You're both wrong. West coast Biotronik sales are down 16% from 2011. In 2011, sales were down 11% from 2010. If you take into consideration our projected growth, you can find a deficit of about 33%, but not 38%. I'm looking at the numbers right now!

2.5 mil maybe. The amount could be debated, but it was one more nail in the coffin of Western Medical.

Why would any BIO rep doing $2.5-$3.5 ever consider going to another company? BSX could never pay that rep near what he was making for such an average amount of business considered by the big 3.

Unless you're dragging $6mil over you're not worth it nor can any of the big 3 consider anything close to what BIO would be paying for that ms.

Because someone under Western Medical doesnt earn what a Normal BIO rep earns. He has to pay homage to CF and PE and take care of healthcare, 401k, expenses. It could be more profitable to leave. Basically Western Medical is a Ponzi Scheme with CF and PE A lot of money of the sweat of others. Why not go somewhere with more security and less DOJ questioning and more benefits.

Now, that makes sense but not sure BSx is a secure route to take right now. Heard Western Medical is in big trouble. What is BIO doing to address their issues? Do they have the power to step in and clean house? Sounds like BIO opened themselves up to the scum of the industry.

Big trouble? Well I'm pretty sure growth stopped when the Evia was on the front page of the NYTimes. The sands of justice grind slowly, but exceedingly fine. Who wants to talk to the Feds and have to produce receipts from 4 years ago?

There is no secure route in this industry right now, but being part of Western Medical is not secure with pending DOJ settlements and possible embezzlement at the top.

I don't know what Biotronik signed back in 2007 or 08 whenever Caesar signed but it was at least 5 years long if not longer.

You guys are kidding me right? Ponzi scheme? So, is EVERY American company a ponzi scheme because people at the top make money on people at the bottom? LOL, that's hilarious. When I worked for another CRM company it was open knowledge that my manager was paid bonuses based on what my territory and his region produced. Even our clinical reps made bonuses based on how the team performed. Is that skimming off the top?

CF and PE had the genius to "take their talents" to a smaller company in an industry that at the time was flailing in the midst of recalls and doj issues. Biotronik (though no angel) was willing to pay handsomely to bring over competitive reps (something MDT, STJ, and BSX have been doing for years). Biotronik took the leap of faith that those two guys could pull it off in getting the right people to make a move to a smaller lesser known company.

I came over to Bio and haven't changed one thing that I do......to get my business. I have a great product that doesn't seem to be in the papers for failures. I provide my customers the same patient service that I did with the other CRM company. During implants, I'm the same person that helps the doctors through procedures by providing them with the devices they need for a smooth implant. From time to time we do dinners and lunches which is still allowable. I don't have nearly as much follow up work because i don't have the legacy patients out there so my work day is simpler right now.

You guys are funny. Life is good at Bio. Sure, biz is challenging and the market is slow. But, at the end of the day, I get paid a higher commission for a reason........... I have to actually be a sales rep rather than a "brand" rep. Every day is a challenge but when I get a case i can honestly say to myself that I made it happen and not the branding of MDT or STJ.

again, why do you punish those that are at the top? it's the same with any organization. heck, i wish i could be at the top of a major product organization. i definitely wouldn't be giving the "worker bees" the same cut that i get for being the president.

do you think the facebook founder is getting equal pay with those that he brought in after him? heck no. zumberg (sp) gets the lion's share because he's at the top.

Western Medical actually pays their guys a different scale than many other Bio reps who have kind of fluctuating scales. But, WM has never missed a payroll payout and I've seen them overpay competitive reps to come over that haven't sold squat. Imagine giving someone a 1 or 2 year guarantee of a humungous salary and that rep can't deliver. I've personally seen Western Medical continue to pay out to those reps (as per their contract) for the full 1 or 2 year commitment.

I hear a lot of crap on this board about CF and PE, but in my personal opinion, I just haven't seen anything that has caused me to say "hmmmm". I could be wrong and don't know every situation.

Sounds like some of CF and PE's competition are on here making useful time of their day.

Yep...that's the trade off us Brand reps make. You BIO guys have to work to make your big $ while I made the decision a long time ago I would rather make half of what you do and be with my family and have huge QOL.

It's a choice....
