What are new independant Bio . reps getting these days?
they get what they earn. therefore their jobs are as stable as they make it. docs don't have to worry about "call schedule" with most Bio reps. they know if they screw up then it's their ass.
Yes, they get what they EARN and it is tougher than most think to 'bring business'. If they do 25 cases on monthly basis they rake in the $$$$. If they do 5 cases on a monthly basis they are barely getting by. Anything less than that and they shouldn't be depending on the independent gig with Bio as their primary source of income. Lastly... the independent gig (outside of the big hitters that manage their own territories as RSD's) is coming to a screeching halt.
As for your call schedule comment.... not sure what your point was there.
Not the person you have been going back and forth with. I think any good rep does that regardless of the company or salary status. When I was at Bio, the independents were the first to take off and leave. But they were shitty reps and never grew squat.
by call schedule i meant this: reps that are 'house' reps are the first to hit the road for vacations, weekends off, holidays, etc. they are eager to set up 'others to cover their area' because they don't have that same fear of losing business if someone fucks up by being late to a case, being late or not showing up for a follow up, or doing something incorrectly.
when you're an independent rep usually it has taken MUCH to gain the loyalty and trust of the customer. i've covered my phone calls and pages from outside the country to make sure that I'm informed.........that i'm still directing tragic...........and that I'm convinced that work has been done correctly.
that's my point.
a lot has changed
Thanks as I am very passionate about Biotronik. I wake up every morning just like the others from the big 3 and drink a full glass of the Koolaid. The only difference I find is that my Koolaid is fresh, and tested for bugs and defects. I don't have to worry about getting sick from drinking it or worry about serving it to my doctors or his patients. I sleep well at night knowing this. It should be hard for some others to do the same, knowing they are selling faulty leads right now to patients and doctors just to make a profit.
We must all learn not to throw stones..................
From the BIOTRONIK July 2012 Product Performance Report (PPR)
LINOX SD
Approximate US Implnats 22,000
U.S. confirmed malfunctions 59 0.27%
Conductor fracture . 9 0.04%
Insulation breach . 50 0.23%
5 year Total Survival of 97.3%
This total survival rate is almost identical to Riata's 5 year performance of 97.28% from St. Jude's 2012 first edition PPR.
two major differences:
1. linox smart replaced the linox sd 2 years ago.
2. riata lead hasn't been accurately reported. we've heard reports as high as 25%.
the last published rates i saw on the linox family was actually 98.8
either way, our leads are not causing disintegrating, they are not causing cans to short, they are not being asked by the fda to be x-ray'd every 3 months.
i can't speak to the PPR except to say that Bio will report a vein pick failure as an adverse event. i've never seen such a company that will actually call me on an LV lead revision and ask what happened and why (even when one case in particular we had a medtronic 4196 lead that was in question). they don't miss much which means reporting is much more trustworthy.
Do your leads cause cans to explode? KABOOOOOOM! Where is that poor Czech doctor, he hasn't been seen since? Too bad STJ couldn't make Hauser disappear like that!

Dude...... Saying that Linox 'SMART' is different than Linox SD is no different than saying that Riata, Riata ST is different than Durata. The 'SMART' coating is nothing more than a lubriciousness material that was integrated into the silicone much in the same that Optim was initially implemented and marketed as a lubricious material to help improve the handling characteristics.
Know your specs before you speak.
Dude.........what specs are you referring to? The Riata ST has an advisory attached to it. As far as I know, the Linox SD and/or Linox SMART are both unattached with any type of advisory.
If your dumbass is going to quote specs, then quote something that you have a fucking clue about. If you work for St Jude, then focus on your current problem. If you are Medtronic then focus on your 2004 technology Quattro. It's bigger but it is satisfactory. If you are with BSX, love you tachy leads but don't you buy brady leads from Bio and re-package?
Again, Linox SD and Linox SMART are both beautiful leads.

Wow....
The previous poster in no way indicated that Linox or Linox 'SMART' were attached to any type of FDA alert, recall or notification. What they did point out was the the Linox and the Linox 'SMART' family are in fact the same exact lead if you remove the material that was added to the Linox leads to give it more lubriciousness feel to the lead much in the same way that Optim was originally marketed for. In fact, Linox "SMART" came out shortly after the Optim leads only to keep up with the Jones'.
And yes, the Linox family of leads has proven to be a solid lead platform - so far.
So, it sounds like you should stop spewing the hate.
