Why are BI oncology reps paid more than the rest of the company?

The funny thing is no one is forcing you to stay here. Believe it or not your position will be filled within two weeks after you leave. I like the people in this organization. Good luck to you and Hit the Bricks!
Can't believe I was suckered into this organization. I actually believed the "Next Genentech" spiel. What a joke. I just wish half of the good people knew what they are missing. (that is not a high number). GSK redux. More money and more stock elsewhere. Not to mention realistic goals, a real product that is recognized, and leadership that is really respected by thought leaders. Kevin is a fun guy, but let's face it. This company will never be on the "oncology map". Kevin's puppets, Charlie and Doug are the future? You are in trouble. Lol. Pissed at myself that I signed up, but glad I left. Can't believe I was weak enough to believe the sales pitch. What you think is good money, and good culture is only relative to what you know.

They know very little.

Good move! Sad thing is that many of the sales force doesn't know what total pretenders these guys are. They have only worked under this leadership their entire career.

Where did you end up?

My point is that a rep in oncology making 168k is absurd. A top DM in cardio making 145k. Care to justify?

Don't be a sucker or a fool and believe everything you hear. Especially on this freakin' site. What's wrong with you. People make claims just to stir up little minds such as your own. Not sure what Oncology makes, not sure what Cardio DM makes. I do my best and if I feel I deserve more and aren't happy with my pay I'll look elsewhere. I'm not going to cry on this board and ask for justifications. What a putz you are!!!

Not sure about oncology or cardio DM but as a Sr cardio rep I can tell you makes 145k- salary and bonus combined.

Good, who cares. Everyone should be grateful they have a job except for the person who wants justification! LOL!

This what I don't get about people...this is an anonymous board. Posting salary range, bonus, etc or things about working for BI should be okay to post feedback on. Granted, I agree be thankful for a job-anywhere for that matter in this industry-but if we are posting about compensation and benefits/work/culture of the company perhaps it helps someone make a decision on whether or not this is the right fit or not. Sometimes it may come down to vacation days or health benefits vs pay. Personally, I am thankful for when someone will step up and comment on such things.

I agree. That is why we have laws protecting such practices. Equal pay for equal work. If the positions are graded equally in the eyes of HR then they should be compensated equally. Maybe some insight into this will prove to be of benefit to those of us who are undercomoensated for equivalent work. I would encourage each of us into a compensation survey discussion with their HR representative.

if you work at BI you are undercompensated. this histification was the 28/32 days pto you got in a year. yes thats unheard of today...and as such they dont give new reps anything but 18 days but slightly more in base. Get used to it people who do the same job as you right in your district will make more or less than you. Why? Because if you started before them you make less in base then they were brought in as but at least you got more into pto. you cant get both.

Exilexis, Ariad, and Medivation all recruited reps for 160 - 170 k with industry standard 40k target bonus for their recent expansions. Not far off from where we are right now. Not to mention, we have an established product, and great culture. Go ahead and roll the dice with one of them. You'll wish you hadn't.

Am I the only one making 120 ish? Please tell me I am not.

2015 Annual Salaries From my contact in HR-- Base pay only. No IC is included

Doug Smith 231k
Charlie Flannery 251k
Chris Sarchi 283k

Did not have access to KL

Given these salaries, you may be able to negotiate a higher base. I know a few who have threatened to leave or had other offers and got a bump to stay.
