BD is gone, and yes it has needed to happen for a while. The problem is that he was only part of the problem. The sales and operations side of the business is still being managed daily by people that don't understand the orthopedic device business. The current "leader" of the sales organization has been in place for more than 6 months now and the current regional management team has been there at least as long. You don't build an orthopedic based business by calling on discharge planners and PT's. Every person who has ever worked for a successful orthopedic company knows they all follow the same formula; hire solid distributors with instant physician access that can have an immediate impact. All the good companies, Arthrex, DJO, Breg, Bledsoe, now Ossur, Mitek, etc, all understand this and have become who they are not because they pass out gummy bears and sheets that tell you what insurance companies they are contracted with; because they know this is a relationship business and in light of all other things, relationships trump everything. Until Germany sees this fact and accepts it, nothing will get better. It's sad because with the financial support of a solid company, OB Healthcare, OS had a real opportunity and it may be too late. None the less, high fives and corrective all around! Have fun!
