Well, how much do you have in your 401K and how old are you?

You are like a child or are lying.

Some of you on here are really just lost in life.

If you can't retire on a significant amount of money, you have some personal problems, a crazy spouse, or a drug habit.

Forgot mention, the West Coast I live in is a Governor Newsome state , He’s ruined everything good about it and will go after our hard earned money because no one pay’s taxes here anymore. This is because its a welfare state. So yeah, not sure if ill be able to retire… of course unless I move in a state that practices common sense.

I also Payed off my daughters education and have another who will be done this year which will also be payed off.

Is 3.0 million that I have invested in my 401/K’s, Roth IRA’s even considered “a significant amount of money” anymore?

It is not a stupid post.
You don't understand money and future values, etc.

Yes, it was a stupid post. If you did a little research before making the post, you would have seen that you made an uninformed post about the wealthy. By the way, future values are speculative. It is what you have today and what you are doing with it.

61 years Old,

Investments 3 million Net worth about 3.6 million, no debt except $210,000 on the mortgage..

Still not sure if i can retire since I live on the West Coast

You should pay off the mortgage before you retire. With that paid off, you only have to cover basic living expenses, regardless of which state you live in.

I'm 68 now. I live in Virginia. I started with Marion Labs at age 26, with $2,500 in the bank. I got married and in 1975 at the age of 20. I worked for 3 companies, and I retired with this:

1. House paid off in 2003...Value: $525,000
2. 401K AZ $1,115,000
3. Roth IRA's $210,000
4. Wifes 401k $356,000
5. CD's $325,000
6. Checking/savings $86,000
7. Gold Coins $38,000
8. 1959 Corvette $115,000

Not bad for hick...right

I have an old Mexican friend, who speaks about 20 words of English. He came to the USA in the late 1970s, in his teens, an uneducated landscaper.

Most of his friends have a 401k with about 1-2 Million in it, and they are so proud of themselves.

He has no 401k, and has about 50 Million, in real estate investments.

Wish I was lying.

Who knows if you are lying. What is obvious is that you lack knowledge. Look at the statistics. The vast majority of money in 401ks and IRAs are from the top 10% (most wealthy of Americans). They understand the tax benefits provided through these retirement vehicles and the wealthy will take every tax advantage they can get.

Well, I talked to my friend yesterday. I was lying. He is worth closer to $100 M now.

Keep grinding. Good for you.

Make sure you set that alarm clock too, for your field ride.

Why don't you put up your address and social security number up there too?

It proves that your IRA and 401K gobblers are really that stupid.

Keep tying up that money. Maybe you can take it with you when you die too. Take a trip to the moon or something with that idiot Elon Musk.
