So as long as we provide proof of vaccination, there is no way for them to verify it.
There is political posturing, without a doubt. But the real reason is that pharma and government just closed the biggest business deal ever… The government wants to conduct the biggest compliance test ever with this pandemic, and to do that they need to buy vaccines/ PCR tests from pharma. In a public emergency, pharma is IMMUNE from liability for any harm from products they rush out… hmmm, huge upside with no downsides…

Put it this way...I'm in NYC and I submitted my stuff for the app. No problems. The whole idea of forcing a vaccination on someone is a complete joke. I'm pro Vax- I get a flu shot every year but I also don't care if someone else chooses not to. Plenty of people are anti vax and don't vaccinate their kids they just forge the records and submit to the school- no one checks or could check without you knowing because of HIPPA.

Also, if you choose not to get vaccinated then you have all the freedom in the world...to find another job and potentially die of your own stupidity (while costing society more money to pay for your care before your last breath).

It actually does discriminate. Age discrimination. 95% of total deaths per CDC data is over age 50. How many of our reps in the field are over 50? 80% of the deaths are over age 65 and we have zero reps over age 65. If you aren't those age ranges you don't need it.
So no it isn't needed. And most of the people testing positive with the Delta variant are in fact vaccinated so not sure the vaccine is stopping spread. It does stop death and hospitalization. If you are over 65 and can't get vaccinated its your priority to stay safe and socially distance- but even a cold or flu can turn into pneumonia in these people. And is what commonly kills them.
Totally agree - the virus doesn’t discriminate and 99.9% will be fine. And it doesn’t discriminate between the vaccinated or unvaccinated either which is awesome because we were about to face a Sneeches situation with the Stars upon Thars is you know what I mean. But it’s comforting to know that 85% of Icelanders, almost 90% or more of those from Gibraltar, and Israelis are seeing an explosion of cases among the vaccinated! Vaccines work people! I mean...they won’t stop the spread...and sure Iceland’s top epidemiologist is saying they’re looking at 5-15 years now of lockdowns in some form or other...and sure Sydney is a veritable wasteland where you get one hour out of your house... but zero Covid guys!!! We can’t AFFORD to lose a single person! Do you want to kill Grandma!??? What’s wrong with you!?? Oh wow. Are you implying that you would falsify information to your employer? Information that could potentially put others you work with at risk during a public health crisis?
I hope someone from GEC sees this and knows they need to consider actually verifying the vaccine attestations now. This makes me very uncomfortable knowing a colleague would ever consider doing this. Totally selfish.
Also - I believe almost everyone stated that they “follow the science” in their ecosystem interviews last year. If that were true you would be listening to the advice of our most intelligent physicians, scientists, and researchers. Not a politician without a medical or scientific background. We have the best and brightest at our fingertips here at Genentech. If you can’t believe what they are telling us, do you really believe in what we do at all? You may want to consider if this is the right company for you.
Reality, we are ONLY in Phase 3 with no real accurate pharmaco-surveillance or AE reporting going on under the FDA Emergency Use Authorization.

If you try for the exemption, they delayed that til mid Aug. Then how long til they approve/decline your exemption request, oh and they are the ones that decide. (Not likely). And how long will they take to get an answer back to you? (Slow walk their answer)
If you decide to bite the bullet and get vaxed to save your job, then you really need to start that process early Sep unless you can find the J and J vax.
If you decide to gamble that you wont get “randomly” audited and get selected you are fired.
There just isn’t a lot of time to make alternate arrangements if you choose not to get vaxed, and they know it.
The reality is…

2. Quit.
3. Get fired
