Well, learning that Carl was involved in the KAM program explains a lot. He was just ridiculous.KAMs unit was a pet project of Carl’s. Well intentioned but the ROI is not evident. They need to be integrated into sales with a quota and other objectives that clearly help drive sales… or be scrapped entirely.

That would hold true if Doctors still see reps. Upper Midwest, Pacific Northwest, and certain parts of the east coast have virtually no access at all anymore. And that trend is spreading across America. National studies show show that reps spend only about 5 hours per day at work, and get to "see" (not convince) 2 doctors per day. When you look at that from this perspective, as companies do, you quickly come to realize that a massive cut in the sales force won't hurt profits, but reduces expenses...Fuck you! They were never true friends.I will say, going through multiple layoffs in the past, that your work friends will not be your friends once you start applying for the same jobs in your local geography.
I've been told that some of the rare disease companies almost exclusively hire tenured reps from companies that didnt have mirrored territories. My cousin works for one in Boston, and she showed me some training photos. She said that the average age was in the upper 40s, and many had previously launched drugs in oncology or rare disease.Why on earth would anyone still hire reps?
