It would serve you well to contact the athletic directors at both Michigan and Michigan State and tell they to use whatever pull they have to keep their teams out of Gonzaga's bracket to preclude an early defeat at March Madness. It would be a shame to see them bounced in the 2nd round.

In college football you can play a pussy schedule (like Alabama did) or barely eek out wins against very ordinary teams (like Notre Dame did) and wind up playing one another in the national championship game.
In college basketball you are required to go to March Madness and play the best of the best and the games get tougher as you move up the ladder. And the polls in college basketball are usually pretty darn accurate.
That's why Gonzaga is ranked #2 today in both the AP and Coaches Polls. Because they know Gonzaga's for real this year. They know that there's an excellent chance the Zags end up in the Final 4 at March Madness. What happens after that is anyone's guess.

These games mean more to Gonzaga because they do not play in a significant conference and they desperately want wins against the big boys. If Gonzaga were in the big 12 would have been soundly beaten at Kansas, at OSU, at Iowa State, and at K State. They would be whipped at home by KAnsas , OSU and probably Iowa State. Gonzaga needs to join a real conference.
