As your moderator for the MARCH MADNESS MANIA 2013 I wanted to update you on the the technicalities of MARCH MADNESS as we approach some very special upcoming dates. You will need to stay on your toes because there is a very narrow window of opportunity to make your selections once the brackets get filled in.
A very important date to remember is
MARCH 17 - one week from today. That day is termed "Selection Sunday" because an announcement will be made identifying MOST of the 64 teams that will play in Round 2 of MARCH MADNESS 2013 which starts on
MARCH 21.
As soon as the names of those teams are released you can count on Uncle Bronco getting a new thread up on the CP Sports Board for Round 2 of the competition.
Now, four (4) teams will play on MARCH 18 and March 19 to decide which 2 teams will be added to the final list of 64 that will play in Round 2. But we will not select those teams (unless for some reason you want to). Our first selections will be for Round 2 which, again, starts on
MARCH 21. So I would suggest you get all your picks in by the evening of
MARCH 20. If you miss Round 2 you are screwed, stewed and tatooed because that will contain the bulk of the games that your score will get generated from for MARCH MADNESS 2013!

March 18 > National Bracket Day: Most pickers start making their MARCH MADNESS selections.
March 19 & 20 > 4 teams compete and the winners fill in the 64 team brackets
March 21 thru 24 > Rounds 2 and 3. From 64 teams to 32 teams to Sweet 16.
March 28 thru 31 > Regional playoffs. From Sweet 16 to Final 8 to Final 4.
April 6 > Final 4
April 8 > MARCH MADNESS Championship Game!

I hope each of you brings your best game to MARCH MADNESS 2013. I expect some cutthroat competition. Go ahead and go for the jugular but let's keep it clean on the CP sports board. No low blows. Keep your gloves above the belt. Clean jabs are welcomed but sucker punches are definitely verboten. Sucker punches will be subject to disciplinary action by the moderator. This could mean point subtracted if the
MAJORITY of your fellow pickers decide to take such action. Now, if you think you got what it takes to throw a haymaker knock-out punch, by all means take your best shot. Just do it cleanly and above the belt. That's all we ask.
Now, as I stated previously, our MARCH MADNESS 2013 MANIA will be a ROUND BY ROUND competition. So at the start of each Round you will be able to start anew. In this way, you will not be penalized if you happen to pick a loser in Round 2, as it will not follow you into Round 3.
If I were you I would submit my picks by the evening of
MARCH 18 and after Round 1 competition is over on
MARCH 20 get your last 2 picks in before ROUND 2 begins on
MARCH 21
You
CANNOT submit your pick for ANY game after the game starts. It will be rejected.
Not sure who will be the 1st seed teams yet - but it looks like Gonzaga is a shoe-in as long as they win their WCC championship game against St. Mary's tomorrow. The game will be on one of the ESPN channels if you care to watch. Hint: Keep your eye on the ZAGS. I don't mean to be presumptous, nor do I want to second-guess your pre-picks, but if you bet against the ZAGS you may regret it as we move forward in time.
