I am 58 and I can still rip through a beer can and lift a cinder block with my tool!
Can you 25 year olds do that?
So what's the point? Any sissy can do that. Is this what I have to look forward to? 58, huh!

I am a woman trapped inside of a mans body but I am also a lesbian.
JUST SUCK IT UP DUDE AND GO AWAY!
The old moldy smelling sales force can have this job. The DM Gestapo's will put you into an early grave.
I`m not your typical looking 53 y/o rep (6`2" 190lbs, 32" waist). I have never had a problem dating very attractive 30 something female reps. Furthermore I love my job here at Amgen. I might not be the richest guy in the world, but my 150K is nothing to sneeze at. I hope all of you younger reps that are on here complaining can have as a good of a career and life as I have had so far. 2 more years and I`m done!
You can add veterans on to your list thanks to a NY DM
He had 3 years experience and the DM did not like him, he told another DM that they are "avoiding that over confident militant behavior"
Woweeee?
Thanks Amgen:
14 years of ostoe experience, lots of great phone screens and then a F2F interview then they ditched me. I am 51, male, confident, trustworthy, a bit chunkey with a graying beard.
I hope Amgen falls on its face.
Yeah, yeah, and you probably run a 4.4/40 and bench 350! We really believe you paw-paw. Go eat your prunes so you can maybe take a good dump tonight.
The take on this the older reps probably should have moved on from pharma into another field. But the younger ones think they are the bomb in an industry that is now in the toilet bowl and flushing reps down in droves. Clearly the older guys will win out for time spent in pharma as the younger ones will be out the door of sooner than later.
Have to agree with this guy. The younger ones not only will be out the door, but they will do it with way, way less money than the older ones. The younger ones spent it on their speedboats, motorcycles and vacations. The older ones bankrolled it or what they did spend was on earning investments.
Have fun while you can little boys, because the bank won't cut you slack just because you lost your job.
So you're saying that attractive, slender, young, and female are getting the jobs? Not at ATO! No sir! People who fit that mold are few and far between!
Troll here-
I am 44 and had fealt like a dinosaur. (I'm at another Big pharma Co.). When asked to assist in a new training class I was amazed by the experience that showed up.... new reps from across the country and I would say the average age was 45. I was in the young group! With the talent pool out there that is available, companies have their pick of true top sales people. These reps all came with years of experience and it showed. That felt good.
PS- Many of us old farts have kept up with technology, use the God Damn Blackberry etc. Those that can't keep up with technology will fall behind. So, to the "senior-ed" out there... there is no choice, be savvy with a computer and you can still excel.
With that said, there were no fatties. I think fat is the new "smoker" from five years ago. Is that such a bad thing? There is pressure at every company to have fit employees. Losing weight might help the orig. poster. in more ways than one.
Everyone knows companies are hiring reps with less time in so they can save $ and that holds true for big pharma more then anyone else. The only ones that fit the profile u are speaking about are places like DNA or start up biotechs. Big pharma all of it will not hire reps with alot of yrs on when they have 20 somethings they can pay 30-40k less makes no sense. I would love to know what company u are speaking of because I think u are telling a tall tale.
So what are you saying that the person is lying? They went to train a new hire class and they were describing the demographics of the class. What were you, there at their training class? Damn, don`t be so idiotic.

I wish the gray haired old farts would just retire and stay home. They should have a mandatory retirement age in this country, like at 55.
That would solve the 10% unemployment issues in this country and give us young guns a better chance at these high flying jobs.
