Exactly on but most who do this job would never admit it.
Just about all pharma jobs can now be done by recent college grads. It's not rocket science to repeat marketing messages,drop of information and bring lunch. The industry has become some dumbed down minus a few areas like Onc that anyone can be sent out to be a marketing robot. Dr's realize all the bs hence they are closing their doors to reps.

Doors are closed b/c there are too many reps on the streets. Pharma dug their own grave with expanding to these BS pods while lowering the standards of the new hires over the past several years. So what does Amgen do, they hire a bunch of young nim rod PCP sales reps. Pure brillance.......... Pharma needs to and will get reduced by a good 30% within a year. Hint, the problem in pharma is not the tenured reps. The tenured reps have seen a much different side of pharma over their careers. The young nim rods only know the side of it that they helped to ruin.

I`m not your typical looking 53 y/o rep (6`2" 190lbs, 32" waist). I have never had a problem dating very attractive 30 something female reps. Furthermore I love my job here at Amgen. I might not be the richest guy in the world, but my 150K is nothing to sneeze at. I hope all of you younger reps that are on here complaining can have as a good of a career and life as I have had so far. 2 more years and I`m done!
 






Maybe, I am missing something; where is the future at Amgen for a young person? Aranesp has done poorly and still will continue to decline. Enbrel is really going no where for the amount of money and time put into it. Vectibix, so far, has not proven the big seller the company thought it would be.

Prolia got thumped by the FDA and now more waiting for a reply. Add that to the fact, Prolia already has competition that has been a proven therapy.

Oh, of course, we have a so-called pipeline of potential high value. But, that's a long way down the road.

Why apply for employment? Where is that old attitude of being a team and an aggressive one, at that? Growth? I don't see any return to the old days where everyone pitched in, instead of spending the day politicking, rumor mongering and that old reliable, backstabbing. Lest we mention poor management choices?

Layoffs in pharma over the next few yrs will top 250-300 thousand easily with more mergers and cutbacks.

The pharma industry over the next 5-7 yrs is toast.Your "Career" is about to be overhauled and instead of having 15-20 yrs of experience you will have 15-20 months.What next back to school to get a real degree.
The way I see it any company willing to dump a 50 yr old is willing to do the same with a 40 or 30 yr old.Job security is a myth and you young guys better start realizing that every work day you get up could be your last working in pharma.

As I read this post it dawned on me you could be talking about the narcissistic, community organizer we now are stuck with in the Oval Office.
