To those 500 displaced...

Tried several months to find something in pharma. So far, not getting past phone interviews because of lack of experience in specific areas. Took "job" making HALF of what AZ paid.
So, there are just as many having to accept something vs those that are finding even better paying jobs than AZ.
And it has nothing to do with experience, success.
It's about who you're connected to!
15 years in pharma, all for what?
Not giving up.

Why on earth would anyone stay in Pharma and be frustrated all day long? No sense of accomplishment, no job satisfaction....you have to be a person with extremely low self esteem to be contend with that.

Frustrations are to be had with any job, especially pharma. But I agree with the pvs. poster.
Pharma benefits are second to none (401k, car, ins) flexibility during day.
I'd bet that anyone now making half of what they were in pharma would be more than willing to deal with the frustrations of pharma.
I mean, most, if not all pharma reps with AZ are total comp 100k-140k (or more). Just the facts. Inexperienced or experienced.
So, I feel for any individual that has to take something making half of what they were making in pharma.
Best of luck to anyone. I'd encourage you to keep trying to get back into pharma. You'll be hard pressed to find better. Deal with the frustration. Its worth the $.

The above post is very well thought out and true. Let's face it most reps complain like hell but have it made. Great pay, freedom and super benefits for very little accountability. You may work with a manager two days a month. Whoopie!! You take them on a "dog and pony show" play the silly game and they go on their way. It's great. This is why so many laid off reps look for other pharma jobs. It's easy work for great pay. The downside is you lose your self esteem, you are micromanaged to death and you are bored as hell with very little job satisfaction. Now if you enjoy feeding hogs in the office who may complain because you forgot the Mountain Dew this job maybe just right for you! If you can make the tradeoff...well then pharma sales is right for you. The company spewed their sh*t how they are patient oriented but everyone knows it's not true. You don't sell a damn thing you basically are a caterer and sample dropper.

AZ Blows Boners! It is quite literally defecation in the pants - make that diarrhea in da pants!!!

Horrible Managers, Back Stabbing co-workers. If you have been downsized from here, it's a blessing in disguise, so DON'T be sad and don't look back!!

Most posts on CP are stupid as f*ck. They keep making posts how bad AZ is. AZ and other big pharma companies are the best companies in the world to work for. Where else can a kid 30 years old make 100K a year plus bonus a car, gas, great benefits and freedom beyond belief. Yeah you work with a manager twice a month and that's all you ever see your boss outside of meetings! Sure beats working in an office and seeing your boss hourly. Now any community college business major two weeks into their first year would look at a pharma sales force and make the decision to cut 75% of reps. That would be the best decision for the company. Yet AZ and other pharma companies keep us around in the biggest example of corporate welfare in the world. Hell the vast majority of reps work short hours and even stay home for days at a time while managers know what's going on and the pay check keeps coming!! I love AZ!!!!!!!!

You've said that twice now.
Numerous individuals have gotten much better opportunities after "losing" a job.
No one who got separated from AZ really lost.
How about you've won an opportunity to find something where you'll be more valued.
That layoff was nothing more than a computer algorithm (successful) attempt at getting rid of higher paid, older employees that lived too far from the epicenter of a new territory.

Well thought out and stated post.

Sometimes it takes something drastic like a layoff to enable us to see what was there all along i.e. other opportunities and life beyond AZ and perhaps life beyond pharma.

You don't even have to be one of the ones affected, just seeing it happen to others, how frequently it occurs, and how quickly those affected are forgotten should give you pause and cause you to view things differently.

This is a great thread. I've been with AZ for over ten years and got laid off from a smaller Pharma company, 200 reps, one month before getting hired with AZ. After the entire sales force was laid off, I received a call from my regional as well as the VP of sales letting me know how sorry they were and that they would do everything they could to help me find a new position. AZ is not like this. Do you think Gilot or his CBD's have made personal phone calls to anyone? I get that it's a much bigger organization, but how many CBD's have reached out to their laid off reps. I guess it's the difference between small and big Pharma. AZ lack a family atmosphere even though they try hard to create it.

WOW that’s deep!!!!! You are brilliant Einstein, must be at the top of your class, 1 out 4……LOL

Just curious, did any of you receive a call, other than from manager?
Did anyone receive call from anyone higher up, like regional mgr/cbd?
I would have thought, just as an act of human decency, calls would have been made just to say thanks for your service, hate this happened..
It goes to show that in the end, we are all a PRID#, nothing more, nothing less.

Dude you are sooo wrong. Man Pascal just won’t shut up ! He calls to say I’ve been shit canned and then drones on for freakin 40 minutes about his place in Australia. Finally hangs up and phone starts ringing again. It’s Marc Done-over, he’s say his call is to remind me that they fried my ass and that his sweet multimillion dollar gig won’t be possible without trolls like me. I mean he actually said “The traditional French peasant exists today in its most pure expression as the AZ sales representative.” Why Done-over said our packages will be as small as our dreams WTF !?!
So Dude if you’re not on their call list.. be glad this is one fucked up family

Wait till Pfizer buys AZ and everything will change ;)
