Throwing in the white flag...tired of living a lie

OH Stop your whinning and belly achin', just be glad you have a job!

It is not about having a job. It’s about making things better. Do you have any idea how many people question our QA? I am thankful for a job and would like to keep it. At the rate we are going we are all gone. It’s not about shipping jobs overseas, it about fixing the problems in the USA. Have you ever had a conversation with a QA person in NJ? They are a bunch of tree stumps. I talking how do you find your car when you leave work. They could be in the parking lot for hours trying to remember where they parked.

Even though you are 100 correct. They are part of the new Merck way of life.

They are dumb cunts but that is the lease of our problems here at Merck

30-35 years ago we hired nothing but the best in class people. We had money and had no problem spending it on the best people. You would need to be best in the class when you graduated to come here. Just a degree was not good enough. We would pillage other companies top talent. It was a great time. All departments were the best personnel money could buy. Nothing would stop us. We knew the value of people.
Now we have a whole lot of crap. Maybe because we purchased other companies and that diluted our talent pool. I retired 7 years ago and on my final day I thought this place was in trouble. The talent was never cultivated and we stopped paying big money for standout people. Leadership that is gone was never replaced. It sound like QA is in trouble. It did not happen overnight. When I left, I did notice the QA and other departments were slowly going downhill. I guess it's in a free-fall now. The FDA are not a bright bunch of people. We just become so weak in brain power that were are making them look like geniuses.

We used to joke about the FDA and how incompetent they were. Now the shoe is on the other foot.

As a tenured rep I used to remember the WP people shared stories with us about how we would over submit data to the FDA for a NDA. We would conduct way more studies than necessary. Merck scientists were revered at their peer national meetings. As a new rep then we were keenly aware that over 1,000 resumes were screened before each of us was interviewed. Then may be 1 out of 100 interviewed was hired. Merck demanded we studied hard during the training but spare no money to ensure we were comfortable. A few dumb*sses misbehaved, slacked off and were let go. Now Merck is just one notch above an ordinary company. The talented and charismatic management got kicked out. The talented reps got kicked out.

I think a lot has to do with the mergers. We always had our underperformers. When we merged we would pickup more until we are at the point we are now. The QA people are good, the management is bad and have little knowledge so how will they lead other? Same thing with R&D, the scientists are great, Management provides no direction. I can't comment on reps.

this job sucks...at its very best it is a total fraud...at its worst it is corrupt and fleecing the public on the poisons we peddle...

how does anyone of conscious do this job anymore?

You are correct, but ignoring my conscious allows my wife to stay home, put my kids in private school, live in a big house in an affluent town, work part time while being paid full time, go on great vacations, etc.

Listening to my conscious gets me, bankruptcy, wife waiting tables, staycations, living life in a blue collar neighborhood.

Really!!!!!Is water going to be the next big discovery by R&D? If so I'm sure it will get through QA with rat turds in it and everyone will get sick.

I guess your bull shit is the only way you can sleep at night knowing how many people you have damaged for a paycheck.

Sorry, no such thing as a 100% safe drug, just read ANY PI.Its all about risk/benefit ration. The fact fact is that virtually all drugs on the market offer very very higher risk of benefit vs. risk, if used properly.

Your negativity is a little over the top when you refer to these drugs as poison. The fact that, as the prvious poster stated, even WATER, can kill thus by your definition is poison.

I have been a rep for a long time. I am almost done and had more ups than downs. Overall the experience has been positive. Generics don't bother me, if you have a good relationship and provide the right education and food they will still move the brand. It is getting harder, not because of R&D but because of the bad press within our manufacturing process. That is what really hurts us. Like it or not we are directly tied to SP. The 500 million dollar hit 10 years ago still is in the mind of people. When we make dirty products, that is what is hard to spin. When we have charred particles of shrink wrap found in vials and all the other stuff we deal with, it hard to defend. Also in the customers mind is what else is going on. That falls directly on QA's lap and they need to deal with it. They can't drop the ball like they do. There has to be some accountability for their actions I have had customers state they have no faith in QA and until things change they will not write prescriptions. The main reason we are not moving Victrelis is that Vertex has a better reputation than us in QA. The customers are not worried about unexpected surprises with Incivek. Pill count and length of time can be dealt with. I need to educate the doctors on our drugs, shake hands, and show a good front. Defending QA is the hardest part of the job. You don't think reps from other companies use this as ammunition against us on a regular basis. That is why the post stated rat crap would be in the water. QA would not pick it up and poison the people taking it. I think it was a well deserved shot at QA.

If any of you Singulair reps. had a conscience you would have looked for another job when you found out Singulair was making children anxious ,depressed, suicidal and aggressive etc................instead you choose to down play it to Docs and keep sales in check........desperate to keep your pathetic existance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Existence.

Too much coffee can make you jittery too. Too many tablet of those "safe" OTC ibuprofen can give you a bleeding ulcer and a quick trip to the ER. Inhaling too much gas vapor while filling up your car can give you brain damage. If you apply conscience in such a straight sense, you may as well lock yourself in a room for the rest of your life. Do you suggest that we all become teachers. Would you then say, "Do you have a conscience knowing you may not properly teach and equip the kids for a brighter future?"

It is already generic outside the USA and will expire in the USA in 2012. We also changed out bottles to show the issues. TEVA is all over that drug making sure it goes generic around the world. Now, if QA failed to find an issue with the manufacturing of the product like they always do. That is a different subject.

Ummmm, you should probably start saving some of that $$$. This job will not be around long enough to sustain that lifestyle. You are living beyond your means. Assuming that you have a four year degree and only Pharma experience, you cannot expect to make as much as you are currently making when this ship sinks.

No shit about that. I'm laughed at and feel horribly inadequate despite using every selling myself technique that supposedly "works" in getting to hello, my name is... Having pharma experience only is a huge obstacle to overcome in breaking out of the pharma industry and get started in a new one.

I assume you meant to say "show a good font" since presentation is everything in pharmaceutical sales. An attention getting font is worth its weight in gold (and that's plenty these days) when trying to engage a prescriber in dialogue. We know how critical it is to use visuals and not just talk with the doctor. Don't we??

So you ignore your conscious? Does that allow you to be unconscious then? I could believe it from your post. Or is this ignoring your conscious something that only exists in your subconscious? I'm sure if you ignore your consciousness, you're probably not the strongest in the area of conscience either. Thanks for allowing me a little fun at your expense. Please don't take this personally as you've simply made an honest mistake and being human, we all make mistakes. I made the mistake of behaving as an asshole in making this post. I guess that makes me human. If that's the biggest mistake I ever make I'll be a very lucky person. I know working at Merck was a bigger mistake and that was something I did at my expense.
