Rheumatology Specialty Positions (New)

Received an e-mail last night stating that they just wanted to keep the lines of communication open and that the 2nd round would be coming up but that the process was slow and they were doing all they could to help me secure a sales position with Publicis.
No dates or anything. Does anyone but me think this is weird?

Also as far as everything I have read, the drug will not be submitted for approval til Mid- August.

Does anyone else know anything different?

The drug has already been submitted for approval You must mean the PDUFA date.
Usually these are set in stone.
I got the email. I do think it is strange but I think things are moving slower maybe for the fact they are not sure it will get approved. This has happened before and in fact Ironwood is another company that is hiring for a new drug and has already extended offers but the drug got delayed for 3 months. This can happen but at least they are communicating.
I have gotten several calls for the recruiter which i think is good. They also want to find out if people may have accepted other postions.

It has been quiet all week. Has anyone heard anything regarding 2nd interview/meet and greet and training schedule? This waiting is driving me crazy.

Received call this week. Nothing set in stone, but meet-n-greets hopefully before mid August. They are trying to figure out how to set up interviews, possible "Skype/Facetime" since interviews are only 20 minutes....Keep in mind they are still waiting for drug approval, set for August, specific date unknown.

YOU RECEIVED NOTHING

All I know is this: I asked for more than $80K and had my first interview last week. Make sure you check indeed.com and/or other sites and look at specialty pharma salaries. If you have 3+ years of pharma, have launch experience, and have called on Rheums before, don't sell yourself short! Specialty pharma pays $78K to $88K base salary. These territories are big, and then factor in many overnights, it needs to pay well, especially since it is a 17 month contract. The person interviewing me did not mention what happens after 17 months, but worst case scenario, there is no severance--so again, ask for more than $75K!

I fully expect to be called back for the 2nd round...

Wondering if it's days, weeks or months longer?

Pfizer Inc. (PFE) said its rheumatoid arthritis treatment tofacitinib, one of the company’s leading experimental drugs, was more effective than an older treatment in a large-scale study.
The drug met its primary end-point in the study and no new side effects were found, Pfizer said today in a statement. Pfizer said on a conference call with analysts today that the Food and Drug Administration may need more time than expected to make a decision on approval of the treatment.

Looks like an additional three months!

One of its more promising treatments, a rheumatoid arthritis drug known as tofacitinib, is awaiting approval from U.S. health regulators. Pfizer said on Tuesday that the Food and Drug Administration had asked for a "routine" analysis of trial data for the drug, which could delay a decision by three months or more beyond an August 21 agency deadline.

"We started investigating this product 20 years ago, so another three months is not that important," Chief Executive Ian Read said in an interview. If approved, tofacitinib could become a more convenient alternative to Abbott Laboratories Inc's $8 billion-a-year injectable Humira arthritis treatment.

This sucks. I have been out of a job for 2 months and was really counting on this. 3 more months, if I still don't have a job by then,, they better not make e start over from scratch. I was told I was in the final 2 for my position.

I won't be waiting around. Good chance it will be 6-9 months not 3 months.
This has been a pretty pathetic experience as there has been little communication and now the drug is delayed.

Yeah I agree I have e-mailed and called my recruiter to get verification that the contract is on hold. No response whatsoever. That is pretty poor. At minimum Publicis should let those of us who were finalists be considered for other contracts. I have applied for three others and have npt been contacted for any of them.
