Regenerative Medicine

From CMS:

"The grafts cost about $1,500 and the physician fee allowable by Medicare is about $110. The 2014 OPPS rule will bundle both payments together and allow $840, which is less than the cost of the graft."

No hospital or doctor can afford to absorb a $600 loss every time they use a product.

Shirecares.com

how about those that are younger than 65?

Will everyone be able to transfer back to their old positions when Medicare makes the changes? Will we close right away or will they keep some of the La Jolla employees?

With the CMS change allowing only $850 per application to pay for product and facility fee - RM will no longer exist. We all know this is the case, but will we be let go in January or will it take longer?

People are leaving left and right. Does anyone know what kind of package we will get if we stay to the bitter end?

Bloomberg 2/20/13:
"Ornskov also said that divesting Dermagraft, a treatment for diabetic foot ulcers, isn’t out of the question, this person said. Shire acquired the product with its $750 million purchase of Advanced Biohealing Inc. in May 2011. The company abandoned efforts to develop Dermagraft for leg ulcers in August 2011 after it failed in a clinical trial. Sales of Dermagraft dropped 65 percent to $19 million in the fourth quarter, Shire said Feb. 14."

Investigations, gigantic loss in sales and Obamacare. Shire can't give this problem, err product away. Why would they absorb the most disgruntled field force? I hope it's stocks and months and moths of pay..... Better times on the horizon for us all.

I agree. I have earned my badge of honor. I have learned, earned and succeeded. Show me the money to exit!!!!!

So I hear the manufacturing facility in La Jolla has been nixed. Sorry to hear that as it can't be good for the future of the product. My wish is that the company find something to put in the bags to keep this unit viable or the remainder of my ABH friends find there way to other companies. Shire has just been an absolute disaster for this business. Snubbed their noses at good leaders and good people who wanted to stay and build something at Shire. Their arrogance is appalling. Had a bunch of good former Pfizer leaders in the sales ranks...and I guess those guys have all left by now. Sad.

Arrogance? You forgot absolute stupidity and destructive leadership. It is much worse than having no leadership. Anyone with any skill or knowledge or talent across the entire organization is shown the door so that the completely incompetant DG leadership would have no one to question any decisions. It is much easier to blame and fire than to develop and execute a well designed plan. Meanwhile, the horrible exec management will just move on to the next job until their reputation and incompetance once again becomes apparent and so it goes...the financials, employee dissatisfaction, and turnover all speak for themselves. Anyone with any talent has already left and those remaining are holding out for a package. I wonder what the excuses have been to corporate and how long before desparately needed changes in DG leadership are made.

Is SD from Chicago still around?

Not sure...anyone know?
(I hope he's still not here. He can do WAY better than Shire and deserves more. He's also no dummie and knows this gig will soon be up)
I'd be curious to know as well... if so, let's find where he went. Maybe he can hook us up as we're going to need a job.

Its obvious that the above posters are trolls- most likely working for mimedix, running out of your guarantee, and realizing that you cant make commission on samples or credits for reimbursement that didn't go through as promised.
Anyone that is here could easily check on the sales reports and see the current AM's...
Go fish somewhere else-
And also... in the end it will be the inferior wannabe products like yours that will be hurt by the revised CMS ruling...

Nice try. Read the CMS document. Where does it say that? DG is done. Go find another pill pushing job.
