are they hiring bad managers too? Is that one of the problems with the company? The managers turn into A holes like Pete? I would think that if they hired competent, understanding managers that these managers would push back if treating reps this badly.
If they are only hiring d bags then I don't want a job there either...will stay selling here until something better comes.
They said they have new products in the near future....tru?
are they paying commission on only new business per quarter?
Three of the managers have been with Poly for about 17 years each, so it's like a "good ole boys" club between the managers and the owners. One of the managers is Pete's son, so you can imagine the ego he might have managing reps. I have heard that during their time as managers, a couple of them had been demoted from the managers role into a sales role, then promoted back to a manager, so you can imagine there is no testicular fortitude within these managers to push back as you asked.
Read post #306. That's EXACTLY how this company is ran. "Turn 'em and Burn 'em" that's how they treat reps. Sure, one or two might last a couple years, even more, but eventually most reps get short changed in bonuses or commissions, or were completely mislead during the interview on what the job really was or offered, and decided to leave.
As for the new products in the pipeline, I don't recall hearing any when I was there. It was the FIT test and ESR line we sold. The FIT test is a good product, but isn't something doctors "need" to do, it's just a way for them to take advantage of better reimbursements and bring more money into their practice, which is fine, but as time goes on, the reimbursement rates will decline as more products like FIT flood the market. Speaking of that, there is WAY too much competition out there and Poly reps are simply overmatched. In any large city, you'll have reps from Cardinal, McKesson, PSS, and about a dozen other places selling a FIT test that have more reps, better visit frequency to those offices, and most of all, have a catalog of other products they can offer to the offices and "bundle" their products to make a better offer. With Poly, you sell ONE product, and no matter how low you go in price, one of the big distributors will soon pick you off.
The ESR line is outdated crap and worthless. But Poly will stroke your rod all day and make you think it's soooo important....yet when they launched FIT 7 years ago, they stopped the reps from pushing the ESR line and focus on FIT. Smart move...
Bottom line, if your unemployed, take the job and never stop looking!! Don't put Poly on your resume because it will be short lived. Make sure you have a vehicle that is either paid off, or already high mileage because they are cheap and won't let you fly to cover your territory. If you have a city 6 hours away, you're driving it! and $500 a month car allowance won't mean shit if your vehicle racks up miles and depreciates.
Good Luck!
