Pharmaceutical Sales will now die













Doctors offices will close. Reps will not be allowed period. Useless anyway. The company will start layoffs in June. If your over 50, you better starting looking into a plan B. If you won’t have health ins, your screwed, especially the S P folks. I’m in headquarters. This is true and long overdue. All sales forces except possibly Oncology are on the table. PC for sure, and anesthesia, and infectious disease.

I would say that more specifically, it was the laptop computer, and the requirement that each rep carry one and report calls for it, began the long, slow death...

Once that happened, reps were forced to lie (because the ridiculous metrics came in) and then the companies were emboldened to use the lies against reps they wanted out...

Sales and marketing brings in money by building relationships. It takes years for R&D to create a drug. Many many failures. Just like you. We can buy a pipeline a half the cost. If you were not antisocial you would know a good relationship is priceless.

The end began when we hired too many reps and clogged up the doctors offices. Then we began to dump far too many samples. After that it became the lunch parade. We slowly began to minimize our value. Still, it is great job def worth hanging on to it you can.

So true. But, they are regarded as “Super Reps” by leadership so I really doubt they will be let go. They will be saved by moving to a new role in which they don’t have qualifications. Look at IAM folks from last reorganization as an example. Joke!
