Hold that thought. Pharma will do what it always has done, slap exorbitant prices on treatments and vaccines for the US and give it away to Europe, Asia, etc.,
Pharma will always be in the crosshairs until they stop subsidizing the world at the expense of the US. Our lobbyists won’t be able to save us.
Once Medicare gets the nod to negotiate drug prices, it’s over for the world.

Socialized, government-run medicine will ration health care and the entire world will suffer.

I don’t disagree with your comment that Pharma will do what it has always done. That’s a given. And you are spot on about Medicare negotiating drug prices. However, this may be the time to point out how American drugs are sold to countries with socialized medicine. Those countries know what you and I know - they are only buying our excess capacity. If an American drug company could sell everything they make in America, believe me, Italy would get none of that drug. I know this from personal experience working with a VP of Regulatory Affairs. We were at a meeting in Madrid where he was negotiating pricing for Italy, Israel and Japan. He told me that demand for our one and only drug was down in the US. He needed to sell the extra 100 million infusion units to these countries; otherwise we would have to throw those units away. I need to mention that this drug had an expiration date less than one year. No way these countries would pay US prices for the drug. We were trying to cover our fixed costs only. Just good business sense. Same thing happened in Canada a few years later.

With no reps there are no managers. And the number of people in marketing would be dwindled dramatically. It’s gonna be interesting to see what the future holds. Until there is a vaccine it is going to be very different and more difficult for sure
