Out Of Touch Management

Is it me or do you feel the management of Sanofi Biosurgery/ Genzyme is completely out of touch with what is really going on with LeGoo and Seprafilm?

How about that conference call last week? What a joke!

Seprafilm numbers are going down because of a few factors. It is NOT because sales reps aren't training enough or fully integrated into their new territories. It is because we are continuing to lose business to MIS surgery, cost is a huge issue especially in L&D and you fired all the reps that were selling millions in slurry. Also, we are completely unprepared for the latest ACOG poster stating Seprafilm ineffective in C-sections or Intercoat being launch this year. I guess this is the NEW culture of secrets and not communicating.

LeGoo- 10Million this year! Are you serious? Wait, we only did about $150,000 in Q1 and you think it is because of VAC committees. WOW you are seriously out of touch. THere are no cases!!!! And we have no real clinical data. Surgeons don't want to do distal bypasses anymore, everything is endovascular. More and more heart centers are going away from beating heart surgery. I don't know who thought this was a good product to invest in. JM was one heck of a salesman.

I love it how the managers say....roll things up. For what? So upper management can ignore everything and tell us the feedback has been great. MEanwhile we are all talking about how screwed up things are. How people like DG, who has never stepped foot in an OR, is in RR's ear and has completely ruined the amazing culture we had at Genzyme. New culture= no communication, bad pay, fear based management, perform or else, turn our heads to the issues & secrets.

Here's the thing...A lot of us are stuck here for the short term. New reps don't want to leave b/c they are scared to job hop and old reps want to find the perfect thing before they leave.

Get with it RR and JB.

Well stated! All the trouble will LeGoo and Sepra sales is because we as reps are not dedicated or taking responsibility. Oh and also we aren't properly trained to sell correctly, thanks Dawn. Apply the old pharma principal, detail a clinical and bring donuts and your doctor will use and your VAC will approve. $10 million in sales really? Backstop has been out for nearly two years and their last year annual sales only hit $2.5 million and the hospitals get reimbursed for their product and it can be used in more cases. Real in touch. Well when the CYA starts from the top it is always going to roll down to the reps for doing a poor job. This should be an interesting ride this year, hold on.

I really should stop, but I just can't help continuing to be amazed at how completely incompetent things are here. With the culture of "secrecy" - not telling the sales force what is really going on, to positioning the lack of LeGoo sales and the slump in Seprafilm on the new reps being hired and reps not being trained well enough to the poster presentation at ACOG. How come we have had to hear about this from our physicians and not from corporate. Don't you think it is rather important to make the sales force aware there was a presentation at ACOG stating Seprafilm is not effective in C-sections. Trying to maintain a positive attitude and get our job done is not being helped by corporate. We already have enough road block in the field, we don't need anymore from management. Oh but wait, I am sure Dawn will bring some of here good ole pharma know how to save the day, sighhhh

Seeing that RR ran a training department in his previous life I'm not shocked that he puts the blame on training... He really sucks in his role and as a person too. A perfect fit for Sanofi.

OK..I'm a rep here and haven't seen the ACOG poster and of course I have to come to cafepharma to find out about it...really?! This sucks. Do you have a link so I can read it and at least be prepared?

Take it from someone who works inside but has significant contact with field based folks.......RR has lost his ability to lead for many many reasons. He is seen as completely incompetent. Not sure how Exec Mgt does not see this based on the sales results ALONE!! It seems to get worse ever month.

Rick, hows ur week going? Anyone quit yet? What's over under on quitting this week 3 or 4. Keep up the solid leadership, were all so proud to be on ur salesteam.

Funny! I put $20 on "4." So I bet if we wish upon a star and relaunch LeCrap in Q4 it will be so widely ordered and used (because of course marketing will have perfected a launch message by then) we can still hit that $10 million dollars. I can't wait for the relaunch, I bet it will be spectacular!

You are so right. Lets have another relaunch meeting at the inexpensive Waldorff Astoria like the original launch. Good use of money when you're bringing in so much Rick and Karen. Whose going to get the well named Lawton cup? Best kiss butt move Rick which backfired. What's up your sleeve next? When's your next promo since you've missed every single quarter you've been part of Seprafilm? I mean you're my hero. Lets do a cheer, go RICK!!!

Can someone please tell me if it is a red flag when three people who made presidents club quit and don't even bother to take the free trip. I guess when you make presidents club and you still make less then when you were middle of the pack that has to say something about the future earning potential in this division. And now with LeGoo off the table I am sure they will have a very realistic growth number for Seprafilm in Q3.

Any guesses on Growth for Q3? 15%,20%,25%?

Maybe since LeGoo is off the table we can buy another product that will fit into our call point as well as LeGoo did, Dental maybe, or a spine device, I would love to get a few more call points.

Come on, stop being so negative. Didn't you hear Rick and the rest of managment, we are going to be a 2 billion division in 2 years AND we are going to be a "best in class medical device company!" Wish they would just stop the BS. We are not even on track to hit our Q2 Seprafilm number and well under the run rate to hit 97 million for the year. I am less concerned about how much of a payout I can make vs. having a job at the end of this year. Let's see how they spin Q2 results next month.

There has to be several Harvard Business Review case studies that show promoting incompetent people lead to incompetent results. I have seen this myself at my last two companies where Exec Mgt keeps promoting the person who has been "loyal" to the organization or who has kissed ass well enough to be promoted only to have disastrous results. I have seen this twice now and happening for a third time here.

RRs background alone was not a fit for this position in this organization. Im not saying he is not a fit for other positions as I am sure he has a decent skill set but not for a VP of sales in this division. Not sure when Mgt will realize this is not working. He had a very steep hill to climb just by getting hired with his background and lack of knowledge in the OR environment. This is going to end very badly just like the previous two experiences. Wait and see....!
