Not an asshole at all, just stating reality. Daniel is working for us. Thanks to Daniel, I get to work two days a week. I love planning for my routine 4 day weekends from Thursday night until Tuesday morning. Daniel provides me a 200K plus salary, great retirement for part time work. Does it get much better? How many doctors would love to work 2 days a week for 200K? I pull this in with a 4 year marketing degree. Now excuse me,I have a 4 day weekend to plan for.

This guy (or gal) is a complete idiot! Obviously someone who was recently laid off or is just angry...no one works 2 days a week and/or makes $200k doing that. Please stop trolling on the Genentech site. Most of us are very happy, work extremely hard and put the patient first in every interaction with our physician/hospital customers!!!

Not Angry, gainfully employed at Genentech and made over 75K in bonus last year. Successful working just 2 days a week. Sucks to be you if you can not be successful like me. You work extremely hard, compared to a Trauma Surgeon in the OR at 2AM? You work extremely hard at selecting Panera, Jimmy Johns or Subway to deliver lunch? You work extremely hard at rubbing the thigh of the front desk staff? I put the patient first and made over 200K doing it last year. I have to admit, I do have a three day work week coming up in a few weeks. I may have to pull back the week before and after to a one day work week to compensate.

Make yourself feel good with the jabber of working extremely hard, patient, blah, blah, blah...
I do it for the patient, then go cha ching!!The Genentech way.

let this tool head rant and rave and stop throwing fuel on his fire so he will go away. I believe (know for that matter of fact) that anyone who works this way will have a rude visit from the Karma Bitch eventually.

Karma dude, Karma

Thr 4 day weekends come in handy for the Superbowl weekend. Since I did not have to go to work on Friday, I was able to go to the grocery store early and avoid the lines getting food and drink. I was able to take my time preparing food. Great party and game. Since I did not have to go to work on Monday, I was able to clean up the house, since I had a party for 30, there was lots of trash. My attorney friends can't believe that I get 200K a year to work three days. They are thinking of applying at Genentech. Many lawyers do not get the pay we do.

I was checking my potential bonus we are receiving soon. Looking like 30-40K, not bad.

Back to work. Got to find a place or two to put in a fake call today. Weekend will be here soon on Thursday.

Hello, everyone knows that drug reps work 2-3 days a week and get paid outrageous jack for it.Maybe not 200K all the time, but 150-200K routinely. That is just the way the role is and the pay accordingly. I may not have made 200k, but I did top 180K last year, working at best 3 days a week. Just got to ride the gravy train at Genentech. Hopefully about 12 more years and then ride off into the sunset.

Enjoy the ride as there are rumours rife in SSF about RIF. Roche is taking a pages out of Amgen and Biogen. Amgen did huge RIF in 2014 just before epo franchise patent expiration and Biogen announced best quarter/profit ever in Nov to announce 15% RIF. Remember Roche is ran by finance dudes like Danny O'Day who had reputation for slashing cost at Diagnostics (dying) and Roche including closing NUTley, and slew of small molecule plants globally in Toluca, Segrate, Clarecastle, CO, SC, to name a few. Upcoming threats by biosimilars from big pharmas on our 3 Onc horsemen Avastin/Herceptin/Rituxan in 2018 means RIF in 2016.

And lest we forget what happened at big pharma 8-10 yrs ago. Some of us got lucky with job at GNE and I'm sure you know of many big pharma reps struggling even to this day.

So not meant to rain on 3-day $200k parade but heads up to those 3-day 200k reps in the field.

Bottom line we are all overpaid and don't have to work that hard. Will they get rid of us? Who knows. They will always need a face for our customers- but how many? Over my pay grade to decide. The best thing we can do is ride it out as long as possible.

If you are really honest with yourself- if you take into account access issues and the fact the a large percentage of physicians are going to write your drug (or not write your drug) regardless of the rep- the employment outlook doesn't look so good.

Good point - let's just enjoy the gravy train for now and not be complacent as we are all overheads.

How did Pfizer's sale pan out when it laid off the field sales people in droves? Some of the ex-Pfizer reps I know are underemployed still and barely getting by working for small pharmas with huge territory or niche medical devices.

As for the Onc franchise - I think y'all are SAFE till biosimilars eat into our 3 Onc horsemen in 2018 and if anything have gang buster 2016 and 17, and you can probably find a better job working for biosimilar big pharmas...

Onc is completely safe forever!! Love the scare tactics with RIF, Blah, Blah, Blah. Onc is rocking and rolling. They know we are valued working 2-3 days a week, with 8-10 of us falling over each other. 150-200K for each of us is pocket change. The over inflated pay for part time work is incredible. I enjoy working 20 hours a week for over 150 large. Golf season is around the corner, Friday 1PM tee time will be here soon. Enjoy the ride, Onc is so safe. Why do you think so many Novartis people have jumped ship to be here recently. Bank on 150-200K a year for the next 10 years, working less than 125 days a year.

Love the 4 day weekend super bowl weekend. With the warmer weather this weekend, the four day weekend came into play nicely. I was able to start spring cleaning on Friday since I did not have to go to work. I was able to pack the trash up today for the trash guy this week since I did not have to go to work today. These 4 day weekends every weekend are great for staying up to date at home. Nothing to worry about. Having premium priced drugs is great. I know that some people have to file backrupcy due to our drugs, but that is the balance between cost and paying a work force 200K per year. Bonus is looking like over 30K, so 2016 should be a year at over 200K for sure. That pays for 2 vacations and the BMW for sure. Not a bad gig, 200K a year for at least the next 10 years. Oncology is looking good until at least 2025-2030. 2 Mil in wages, plus benefits is great over the next 10 years. Very nice gravy train.

Planning for my 4 day weekend next weekend as well. Nice to party on a Thursday night, knowing I do not have to go to work on Friday.

Dude - sounds like you need some serious mental health counseling for insecurity or something.

Dude, Cafepharma at 10:43AM, you have a serious issue as well, like getting ready for work.

While I don't support the person talking about 4 day weekends, lets face it, we are grossly overpaid. No one works a 4 day work week. 150K for sure, I'm not sure about 200K. I run a lot, so I do take a Friday or Monday off for races, get to an event or rest for the body on a Monday, but not both, let alone almost every week.

I do feel bad for people that have to file bankruptcy due to our meds, given how overpaid we are. I have no idea how long the Genentech Welfare check will keep coming, but I save as much as I can.

This is funny. This guy calls out another person for not being ready for work at 10:43am, yet openly states he takes off Friday's/Monday's to rest up after a foot race. Mr Pot, meet Mr Kettle. It doesn't get any better than this.

Did you just hear yourself? No sushi or chilled seafood. WOOOOW! Get a grip. We are fortunate to have what we have. I have been here for 9 years in various roles and am so thankful to be with such a wonderful company. I have friends who WISH they had 1/4 of the things we have. They would take our "cheap gifts" and Ford explorer cars ANY DAY. I swear the elitism of some people is amazing. As long as my room is clean, the food doesn't make me physically ill, and we have a productive meeting. I'm good. I don't care where we stay. I have a JOB!

So do you think GRED would settle on a mediocre molecule? If we only came up with me-too products, you'd be ok with it? That's not being a visionary. That's not fulfilling unmet needs. We can't just say "hey, I get a paycheck, I'm good".
You sir, are not forward thinking.
May I suggest some developmental courses that will improve your negative attitude? We don't settle for mediocrity around here. Go big or go home.

The best part of NSM was the discussion on putting in calls on doctors that are near death or dead. Like the idea of "SP" in reporting for Stiff Physicians. The feds or anyone else will not be able to figure it out.
