Nominations for worst manager at Novartis

Ha… is this a joke or do you actually believe that. If you hire people, pay them 6 figures, and they cant figure out how to route their 80 targets along with the extra 10 that should be targets. I don't know how you managers do it. You either have to be delusional that your needed that badly, or the reps really are that stupid. Either way, what a crappy job.

It’s the latter, most reps are completely ignorant when it comes to business planning and territory analysis.

You are both stupid and delusional (no either-or scenario here).

Reach and frequency is antithetical to success in account sales and buy and bill. The fact that you think otherwise tells us all we need to know about you. I'm sure that model worked when you sold your third to market P.P.I., but the world has changed in the last twenty years.

Teaching (forcing) reach/frequency on your reps will not only guarantee their failure, but it will instill bad work habits when they finally move on from Novartis.

Furthermore, PRISM data is a fucking joke, Leqvio practitioner data still sucks, and a lot of business is pulled from "non-targets".

It's too late for your stupid-ass, but I hope responsible, professional ABL's teach their reps to eschew reach/frequency and focus on account selling.

As an ABL I help my reps learn territory mgmt. That’s the biggest growth opportunity for almost every rep I’ve seen. Poor territory mgmt gives reps less at bats in front of their customers which impedes reach and frequency.
Perhaps you are that one ABL who is good at territory management, but at my time at Novartis I certainly haven’t met you. I’m currently one of the top producing reps in the region, but it has become a miserable game to try to balance metrics on total shit targets Novartis chooses with driving the business based on market data from PRISM and Leqvio One. No matter how good sales are, all we hear about day after day is unrealistic metrics/KPIs. The culture here is abysmal.
You will always have people, especially those at the bottom of ranking reports, disgruntled and posting on cafe pharma, but when even your top performers hate it here, you have a real problem. I do not know a single person in field sales here who has much positive to say.
Novartis- please throw us a life raft. The micromanagement, combined with terrible business strategies and constant negative feedback has us drowning.

Somehow I doubt your self righteousness equates to you being as good as you claim you are. When I see truly talented reps who are legit they seem to have no problem moving on from a situation that they are unhappy in. The fact that you are tjis unhappy yet still here points to you being a delusional fraud! Now go listen to your ABL son. He/she is your only prayer. Again, if you are this true sales talent, you’d be long gone from here.

People have all kinds of reasons for not moving on (yet), but nobody would expect an obtuse simpleton such as yourself to.understand that.
Keep riding Dez's jock and pushing eight calls a day, boss.
Would ask you to articulate what a "truly talented" rep looks like, but I hear enough about call metrics already.
Go kick dirt, junior.

This is gold! Nailed it

Nailed it!

ok Mr Nailed it. How long you been unhappy at Novartis? If it’s more than a few months you are the worlds biggest loser! Any rep with any kind of talent can easily find another job within a few months guaranteed! So answer the question before we proceed any further. How long you been unhappy here?

I was in an office yesterday and both the doctor and office manager said they have two reps from Glaxo they show up every Monday like clockwork and finally the doctor has had to ban reps on Mondays unless they specifically call the rep. One of the reps has a 15 plus year old drug and there is not one damn reason for a rep to be in an office 2-4 times a month with an older drug. The reach and frequency on top targets bullshit has to stop. There are new doctors moving into territories all the top that we are ignoring but our competitors aren’t and they will become top tier in a year or so and we have missed the boat. And one more thing - to the ABL’s that have been in your role 10 plus years - you need to move on and stop thinking that your “coaching” is helping us. Well that goes for all ABL’s but those with too much tenure it’s time to move to another role
