LRL has made a strategic business decision to offer a voluntary exit program (VEP) to eligible employees in its research operations group, with a cap of 35 volunteers. Andrew Dahlem, Ph.D., vice president, LRL operations and LRL Europe, announced the VEP to research operations employees on June 13.
"Decisions like these are always difficult, and this one is no exception," says Dahlem. "It's driven by two realities of our business today. One, we need to reduce our investment in the area of research operations as we allow for other areas of growth and investment in LRL, consistent with our long range plan goals. Two, Lilly's reorganization, which began in 2009, has resulted in a corresponding reduction in the need for specific services to be provided in the research organization. This decision, while difficult now, is designed to help Lilly improve productivity, reduce fixed costs, and increase flexibility in order to speed the flow of new molecules through our pipeline and, ultimately, deliver innovative medicines to patients more quickly."
Eligible employees have until noon, Indianapolis time, June 27 to submit a voluntary request to participate in the program. Successful applicants will be notified around June 30 whether their request to participate in the VEP has been accepted. Employees who are selected to participate in the VEP will receive standard severance and voluntarily exit the company on August 22, 2011.

I've decided to take my $500 million severance package and leave voluntarily. Yours truly, $$JL$$
Former LRL employee here:
Got sent home on Friday June 10th and fired over the phone the following Thursday for 'breaking the Lilly Code of Conduct'. They didn't even bother to follow up with a letter confirming my 'separation' from the company. HR goons are working hard to meet their staff reduction quotas and seem to have the upper hand over line management in making these decisions (although I had done plenty recently to piss off my management).
Anyone here have personal experience with or know of others that have successfully sued Lillie for wrongful termination? Who is a good lawyer for taking on these scumbags? I have talked to a couple that think I may have a case but Lillie is not one to settle these cases, so likely to be a long process (3 + years).
I can't answer your question; however, it's unbelievable what kind of damage is done to employees through the lies of their coworkers and sometimes management as well. It is almost shocking that managers are gullible enough to believe the stupidity these tongue-waggers deliver behind closed doors. What is saddest of all is that those who have been destroyed purposefully by their immature and scheming coworkers have no recourse to protect themselves from the permanent damage done. In the long run, HR punishes the wrong people. It is way beyond unbelievable what the culture is like in that company--a culture of lies which has taken the company down. I have to ask, though, if it was ever not like that? I am not surprised people are tempted to engage in lawsuits against the company.
If you need a good lawyer, Saul Bellow is the man.
Another Monday means lly shames itself once again by showing its true values. This week, ~50 more people end their careers today. Shuffling off into the muggy, thunderstorms of In'danap'lis. To join the unemployment the great innovator of indy has caused. Herein, 1/5 of those poor souls:
