My version of 15 by 15

I have to say, the ONE hater on here is seriously mental! Like multiple screws loose, needs to calibrate meds, real loon kind of mental. I come on here once in a blue moon, and whaddaya know? It's the same thing every time. One hateful troll continues to vomit his demented version of integrity. But that's not even the sad part. The sad part is that he NEEDS this thread. It is daily sustenance for him, much like a stalker pursues a film star. When the film star brushes off the stalker like a mosquito (much like the 15 Guy brushes off the troll), it gives our resident troll a goal in life. To spew hate. A sad and lonely goal, but a goal nonetheless. It's a problem endemic in today's internet-driven, connected society. There are those that are fortunate to enjoy life and live well. And then there are the...haters. Instead of "live and let live", they spend their miserable existence hating...trolling...preaching...envying...and trolling some more. This is their heroin, they cannot live without it. The hate consumes them. Rather than building any goodness in their own life, their only source of self-validation is hating on others. A truly powerless, cowardly way to live.

Best of luck to 15 Guy, and all those that refuse to let this faceless corporation (that uses annual scorched-earth tactics) control how they live and thrive.

Meanwhile, the troll will keep trolling, because he had nothing else of worth in his lonely existence. Perhaps best not to reply to his vomit directly. It only feeds his cowardly addiction.

This quote captured it best. Haters gonna hate.

This guy is brilliant. Take it from me: a pharma rep for over 30 yrs. all types of awards, etc. no, I did not want to move cross country and disrupt my life for another company, no I did not want to be a district manger with all of that stress. Hindsite: luckily I was smart enough to do multiple different things: start my own import/export company, etc. Being a rep over 30 yrs. has earned no respect; management does not know/understand or want to comprehened my stautus. My new manager is extremely jealous of my tenure, vacation, etc. and has written nothing but disasterous field reports. And it goes on and on. Corporate America has no loyalty to you, appreciation/respect, etc. The sooner you understand this the better off you will be.

Amen brother!

Above poster of 30 years is dead on. Many years with Merck and always top
Third in rankings and now new CTL and says I need improvent in competencies. Never had a negative year end review and now I am told need to improve even though pulling good numbers has to be age issue.

At least the 15 Guy is honest about what he does….

Wrong. What part of what he does, err, doesn't do is honest? The kinda guy when things get tough, he gets golfing. Most assuredly NOT the kinda guy you'd want to share a foxhole with. Stab you in the back then surrender. He chose the easy way in life. He will always choose the easy way. Most people are more like him, really, nothing special. Found everywhere. Exceptional people, not so much. They don't begrudge a " 15er" as much as just wish they would stay on the golf course and out of the way. A "15er" never achieved anything, never improved the human condition. Deflect blame, assume credit is their corporate MO. Blame the company, blame co-workers, blame management. But all they are really interested in is golf, or the gym, or shopping, whatever. That's what attracts them to pharma in the first place. Easy hours, no ones watching, play dress up and pretend they are participating in life.
It sounds cliche but it really demonstrates a persons character in what the do ( or don't) when no one is watching. A " 15er" is just demonstrating their true ( lack of) character, that's all. No need to make more of it than it is, err, isn't.

Very well said!

The only backstabbing that has been done is management's war against it's own workers by the continued layoffs of good people, reduction in sales incentives and increase in intensity to push out tenured sales folks to cut costs. I would rather be in the foxhole with a 15 by 15er than a back stabbing CTL or DCO who talks out of both side of their mouths to save their useless jobs ; they are more likely to be initiating friendly fire.

Actually, it's a budget issue. There's no room for reps like you in the budget. And the even bigger reason for the obvious targeting is your pension. Let me guess---you're getting close to 15 years seniority, right? That's when the pension starts to actually grow into something worth having. They have no intention of letting your pension grow. I'm sorry.

That's correct. The only single idiot that ever posts on this thread (repeatedly) is probably a member of management….or really, really stupid. Either way, his opinion doesn't count. Yours does.

In answering post #1225; I do not think it is an age issue they have to be smart there; I think it is a salary plus bonus issue along with vacation time, etc. One manager told my friend well you did so well for yourself with two homes, etc. There is tremendous jealousy although those of us who have put our years in earned it. Atop of that, there is so much more now than ever before required on down time as these companies want to own you 24/7; it is disgusting.

Wow, I didn't think I'd be this polarizing for folks. But then again that was never my intent anyway. For those of you who are wondering about why I started this, here is a little history.

After years of working my ass off and being that straight arrow "company guy" I saw the morality of management slide away into the abyss of corporate welfare only looking out for themselves and their chosen ass kissers.

After watching this happen for many years and seeing good people get pushed to the side and PIPPED out, I decided it was my time to push back. I am at a point in life that I really no longer need the money so I decided to dial it down in a leviathan sort of way. Thus the 15x15 lifestyle was born. Why work so hard for a company who has proven to us over and over that hard work really doesn't matter. If it did, many past award winning reps would not have been placed on PIPs and shown the door. They were pushed out because they were making a good salary and their pensions were going to be increasing, nothing more.

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving I know we did here at the 15 estate. A special "thanks" to Mother Merck for paying for 97% of it including the vino & other spirits! I think my wife did run out to get a few items that Mother forgot to buy for us. Now thats a "Thanksgiving"!!!

Me and some buddies are going to take the wives on an extended golf/shopping/resort sabbatical for 10 days or so now that the weather has turned cold. I think we will head to Florida for this. While I have golfed many courses in FL we need to stay at a place that has great shopping and top end restaurants. Maybe PGA Village in St Lucie or PGA National in Palm Beach or even LaPlaya in Naples. Actually we could just stay a few days at each locale and do them all.

I hope everybody has been good (like me) and Santa treats them great. Mother Merck is kinda like Santa Claus for me, always putting treats in the liquor cabinet and wine in the cellar. Not to mention all the great food in the frig! And that nice timely deposit in my bank account to boot! Gotta love the 15x15 life!

December is here. Take the rest of the month off and do the important things for you and your families during the holiday season. After putting up with this company we all deserve it!

Regards,

The 15x15 Guy

I applaud the 15 X 15 guy all the way, and think he definitely "gets it" that hard work at Merck is basically a waste of time…

But I wonder how he is able to thwart the various checks and balances that Merck has in place (like the laptop/metrics) to keep reps from scamming them…

oh…by the way…FU MERCK!

Long way of saying you don't want to work anymore, you'd rather play golf and you don't think you'll get caught. We get it. I've seen dozens and dozens like you over the years. What you do/don't do isn't hard. Doing the work is hard. You took the easy way. Doesn't take a genius to skate. I doubt that you've ever worked very hard and always conned management. I doubt you're golf scores are very much better than you're lousy work ethic. Besides if you lie about what you're doing all day, just as easy to lie about golf. Kick the ball back out in the fairway . Winter rules year a round right? You're not polarizing. You're mediocre. There are millions like you who stumble through life until the end. Misery loves company. Unremarkable, unremembered. You're forgotten as soon as you finish posting.
