Mike & Amy - MS FRANCHISE FAVORTISM & DYSFUNCTIONAL

Come on I think that is a little harsh. We are all in this together. Yes MS division has lots of problems and a lower level of experience representative but we are all Genentech! This is a great company and will do what is best for our people and business in the end. I don't see us getting rid of the weaker reps and management in MS we will probably just reallocate them to another division that is representative of the skillset.

You guys are all a piece of work! Who are you to make comments like "lower level of experience?" I can't speak for the inside Genentech reps they hired, but in terms of the outside reps they hired, they are the best of the best with several years of well documented success and awards. You have no idea what you are talking about. The issue here is that many of the outside reps got hired and were giving terrible territories with targets that don't even write for MS. Not much you can do in that situation, no matter how great of a sales person you are. In many cases, reps were ill informed what their territories would look like and then after they were hired and trained, were given something completely different. This is unacceptable. Certain individuals that were already Genentech employees have been given territories that were given to be successful as to set them up for promotion. This is what is wrong. So if there are changes that need to be made, with the amount of reps hired, they will now have to form teams and share coverage and go with an MBO system for bonus. It's the only fair way at this point. Someone that has been given a fantastic territory does not mean they are working harder or better. Any awards given out for this division as it stands right now, would be pure embarrassment and everyone would know they didn't deserve the award or extra bonus.

Really big cry babies. Any launch has territories with quick starts and ones that lag behind. Then next year you launch losers will be rockstars with growth. Since your launch winner will have the more quota weight. If all you MS pro with years of experience that we hired from the outside can't handle the real world. Then we hired a bunch real losers.

Ouch. Lots of dysfunction and infighting. I thought Genentech was voted best company to work for. Doesn’t seem to be the case here. In the words of Rotney King “can’t we all get along?”

what's ironic about this entire MS post is that these reps had a year off, but still getting paid for making so called calls prior to the drug getting approved

spoiled brats

Spot on! Boy- you guys really blow in MS at Genentech; novel best in class drug and can't get the sales; typical Pharma reps that do nothing out in the field.

Seems like Genentech Reps are the true embodiment of garbage sales people.
Hoping for another easy gig!

Newsflash..you might have to work and not rely on hope and dinner programs

Another garbage sales division at Genentech that rivals the ultimate lazy salesteam....Oncology- they just bottom line are garbage and overpaid.

Best of the best get sales and make things happen. Cry babies are Rep’s that make 200k a year, work a few hours a week, sat home for an entire YEAR, and now cry about unfair territories. We didn’t hire the best of the best...we hired the reject Tera reps that couldn’t get hired at a Genzyme or Biogen.

Wait Until you hear that your latest bonus is getting decreased and then you'll realize the SL wants anyone not happy here to leave. Yes- you heard it right. Their totally going to take bonus dollars away from us. And wait until the bottom 25% get a partial meets. This place is the titanic and MJ and AV are driving this boat

confused why the MS reps are complaining, especially since they had a free year's salary/bonus/benefits for an entire year prior to the product being launched....sad culture

You're probably one of the bitter Onc reps. Guess what? We are bitter too. Culture? The culture in this division downright sucks. It was no picnic okay. We had maybe 6 months and they gave us plenty to do. Believe me. BIG PHARMA all the way.
Why are we complaining? Because the level of unfairness around here is downright disgusting. Many of us left very good jobs to come here and we are just expecting equal opportunity and that isn't happening. The raw favoritism of the preexisting Gene reps is sickening. The best territories were given to them and it is a blatant difference. Something many of us have never seen before. Why hire successful reps and then give them shitty territories that have no MS? Makes no sense at all.
Time to do away with rank reports because they do nothing but create animosity. The lower tier territories will never see a high ranking and they know that. You also have morons in this division that EXPECT to have senior sakes status because they feel they have more MS experience. Complete BS. Just like the whole Onc sales. Oncology reps are no better than any other sales. Sakes are sales. A sign of a great sales person is when they have shown they are a top performer across all areas of medicine not just one.

You're a complete buffoon idiot. You can't be successful if you've been given a territory where the targets themselves don't treat MS. Don't believe me? It's happening here. There literally are territories where the vast majority of targets don't treat MS and specialize in other areas of neurology like seizures. It doesn't matter how great you are if that is what you're given. Then you're going to be compared to someone that has MS centers where they are cranking out drug? Not remotely fair.
You too would be crying if all your targets said in their best year they might have two ms patients. This is the reality whether you believe it or not.

This holds true across most if not all franchises in this company, unfortunately. Those with the lowest ranking, even if it is completely due to market conditions and factors out of their control, will be dinged in the year end review because it is "required" here to have a % that meets expectations and a % that needs improvement. Those needing improvement are one banana peel away from a PIP the following year and you're made to feel inferior, not welcome and a member of a leper colony. Not an enjoyable culture or mind set here. I'd imagine that there will be an "optimizing" in MS within the next year as they didn't plan appropriately. They'll use a year or more of data to determine that there needs some fine tuning and "equalization" to make it good. In the mean time, those earmarked as indispensible in oncology, will be offered those open spots where there was attrition. It all depends on who you know, those who you know know and a big amount of nepotism.......
Bill didn't mention that in his messages

optimization+equalization= Right sized
U don’t want to find yourself on the bottom of the screen ranking report (bottom 25 percentile).

It seems that everyone that has gotten projections, territories, and processes wrong will just be promoted. Grab a shovel, we will be digging out of this mess for awhile. I am baffled how people are promoted here. It's not for fine work or real problem solving. Actually, it seems the more they screw up in Sales Analytics, Marketing, and Access Solutions, the more likely they are to be promoted. Just pass the shovel.

Haha you are delusional. Sounds like many of you turds will be out of a job since you aren’t selling anything. And if you think oncology isn’t WAY different than selling in any other disease state you are a fool. We are better and more experienced. I know that is hard to accept in this day and age but not everyone gets participation trophies in the real world. The best of the best are in oncology at any company not just here. We are heavily involved in treating very sick patients and without us educating and helping Drs on the proper treatment choices many patients would die. That is fact.

What a dysfunctional culture. This isn't unique to just the MS franchise either. This is Genentech. The only reason it is being highlighted under MS is because many talented reps left very good jobs to work for Genentech. Other franchises are too fearful to speak the truth, or they enjoy the environment. If you like watching the television show "Big Brother", you will enjoy the Gene culture.

Oh my God, CAN IT! Couldn't even read past the first three sentences of your post before wanting to heave. Your are an over-inflated egomaniac. Many of the reps in the MS space sold in Oncology....no big deal. Most of the territories you can't even see the oncologist, so save your breath. You wouldn't know how to sell if your life depended on it. How dare you insuinuate that because you sold in the oncology space, you are a better rep. What a laugh!!! Now go crawl in the hole you came out of and die.

So true!

Only a true idiot would go from Oncology to lowly Neurology and take the pay decrease that goes with that. The majority of you have no Oncology or account management experience which is why you struggle. Simply put- the pedigree isn't there. You are a liar and a cry baby. Go cry about your "unfair" territory and why you can't sell one of the biggest breakthroughs for MS patients since Copaxone. Cry about how you sat at home for almost a year and got paid. Cry about the amazing benefits we offer and the significant raise you got from the insignificant company that you came from. You are definition of snowflake.

We see our Dr.'s on a regular basis because we add value and are part of the treatment solution- it's not primary care or a step up like Neurology.

Why is everyone so angry?? We have great jobs and hire great people- in MS and on the Oncology side. We are all in this together let's make the best of it! Even though Oncology is a more complicated sale- MS is definitely no joke either. They have access issues and they have a drug that sells itself- just like in Oncology. I don't really see much of a difference aside from the paying Oncology a heck of a lot more.

We need to get along and do our jobs the best we can. Genentech is a great company and our accounts, patients and physicians need us! Have a great day!!
