MedImmune to Buy Amgen Colorado Facility?

This thread is brutal. I joined MedImmune 2 months ago today and some of the things I read here gave me consideration. But honestly this is the brightest future around. Employees are happy. Management is good. AZ is putting a lot of money into the facility. Growth in jobs is planned for the next year. It's a good place to be. Don't hesitate to come here.

If you like it then you obviously don't know the situation. Peg is nasty. Do not cross her. Sally is a joke. Darren is working well below his pay grade. When he leaves it will be even worse then it is. Analysts have dropped the Durvalumab projections from 6.5 to 1.9 billion in mere months. It won't be approved for two more years. It won't even be a billion by then. If you think AZ will stick with the Boulder plant you are mistaken. They are working on a CMO as well. There is a reason that very few old employees are coming back. That ones that have had a hard time working outside of their Amgen comfort zone or were not very employable. They're talking about selling Medi off on the AZ thread. Be prepared.

Welcome to the team!

Bitter, party of one.

I don't mind being back but this one won't last. I keep my resume posted and am looking all the time. We're too far behind on this one and AZ doesn't have the cash to ride it out. I'd love to get another lay off payment.

Says the person posting during work hours.

I agree with the other post. Not too many people think this will go beyond a couple of years. AZ just sold another asset today.

Whose working hours? Not everybody works the cake shift.

Some people are actually grateful to have steady work and don't count on packages when the going gets tough.

The cake shift? Everyone is good with having jobs, it's just that we're all going to get laid off in a few years when Durvalumab under performs and AZ is sold off in more pieces.

Latest news is that the Longmont site is hiring (Amgen) to restart the Epogen process. They also report that the property is now under contract with a leaseback agreement that Amgen can continue operating "certain aspects" of the facility for a period of time.

Very interesting.

Very interesting.

Is Amgen actually rehiring RIFd employees by getting the VP waiver based upon business need, or are they using previous employees as contractors? This seems like a great opportunity for those who know the EPO process to get back in the door (and get paid accordingly) and then land somewhere in the Amgen network if /when they stop EPO production at LM.

Snap.

The AMGEN CO VP wrote to the Boulder paper to say that the news of hiring is untrue and that basically they have never had an EPO stock out as reported.

I agree that Amgen has not had a stockout on EPO, so understand where Skrine wants to allay any concerns on that point. But the EPO production process in ATO still has not started, and I understand that Longmont still could play a potential role in filling demand for EPO if needed. How viable would it be to restart the process? Who knows. But there is still a small staff on site keeping things warm for that purpose. I don't know what this means in the context of the sale of the site to Astra Zeneca the other day though.
