Layoffs will start Aug 17





Heard a few folks in BDH got laid off today. No idea who/how many though.

no idea what this town hall is going to be tomorrow.

It's definitely going to be a weird townhall. I would have thought it would have come at the end of all the changes. I stopped looking at the Synapse FFG page since basically it says 'We'll announce decisions as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience'. It leaves much to be desired in terms of transparency.
 








BDH was definitely a lot of people. Seems like that group is basically not part of Biogen at all anymore? Not even a mention of it on the useless townhall this morning. So much for transparency. My favorite part of the townhall was the gaslighting when the killer said that fit for growth is because of our responses on the employee survey. I guess the new story is that we asked for it?

and those Reata folks really know how to make decisions and be agile, so we are going to let them stay while we lay off the rest of you.

nah I remember either Chris or Ginger mentioning a thanks to the BDH people (not that it meant anything though)
But yeah the survey comparison to needing to lay people off was horseshit.
 












There is very little empathy from leadership if you are affected, other than 'we know these are tough times.'
Its easy for them to sit in their ivory towers since they know they are safe.
HR provides very little information on how severance packages are calculated so that we can prepare.

I'm just planning for 3 months because I think that's about what everyone else has gotten. They're never going to tell us so I figure anything above that will just be extra. Trying to time it to get double paid for a few months.

What level / departments do you know that got 3 months? Do you actually know someone who got this?
 








Not the OP, but yes, I know more than one who have gotten 13 weeks, compensation level 10.

I really appreciate this! Any chance you know if that 13 weeks is because of them being at the company for like 3+ years, or if the 13 weeks was just a blanket (I.e. not 4 weeks + (4 weeks x every year you’ve been here))?

I think the 13 weeks was a minimum for that level, but not sure. Those who got 13, had been employed about a year. Know of others who got more, so could be a 12 weeks plus a week per year of service thing. Someone else told me it was a month per year of service with a 3 month/13 week minimum. Not sure, haven’t been able to crack to the mysterious code for severance. I have also heard some parts of the package depend on the employees age, length of service, and level of compensation. Was BDH the group that did things with studies with wearables for early signs of MS? If so they rebranded so many times over and over. That group was a money-pit too many in leadership were afraid to cut back on over the years. Lots of politics and big heavy hitters that carried sway within the neuro academic community. That was treated like a “ no-go” zone for so many years within R&D for anyone who tried to question what they were doing.

Say what you want about the new CEO but he’s making the cuts you all know should have happened in late 2019 before they tried to pull off the Adu scam. These are mostly the massive November 2019 cuts that never happened
 




Stop saying it is so difficult. You have had 6 months to figure out. You outside $$ consultants get paid a lot for you figure out.
You’re waiting it out to finish the fiscal .year before it tanks! You made the dirty bed you sleep in because you thought dei( woke) business philosophy was more important than hiring qualified people.
The market I has changed and ms drugs will soon be generic only. The days of charging 80 to100 k

Bad leadership! Your rare disease buy was wasted $$$. Maybe lay off the Botox . I think seeping deep into your brain. Being bold is doing things different! Same big pharma bs. You have no innovative ideas. You let sage fool you ,wasted hundreds of millions on aduhell and now tell us don’t worry we got it.
Poor hr has so much to do! They finally have work to do . Wow! We have a leader that could not find a real man and have children. What does she know about the stress of have a family( children)
Don’t worry, just keep pushing forward. Be Bold and transform fast forward.
We don’t want to lose our “woke” culture. But transform our business.
