Labcorp mangement

It always cracks me up when I see sales reps bashing the managed care team. If it weren't for them, you would have to sell your services instead of showing the client a letter saying, "See, I know you don't want to use us, but you have to...see it says so in the letter".

Also, an interesting observation is when the President awards are given out, it's usually to a sales rep in a territory where there was a managed care win.

You should treat them with more respect...

First of all managed care contracts lead the way with how labcorp can trap/force doctors to use their lab. Labcorp does this leaving their profit margins almost depleted because of it to gain market share and also to blow up quest. All in all it is a good plan, but lets be serious, managed care reps are not the ones winning the contract. That happens at a much higher level. Do you do the grunt work to service the contract? Of course. Do sales reps win business with the new managed care plan? Of course not and have no business taking an award for something that was handed to them because of the Zip code their territory resides in. Their are so many reps that scratch and claw just to make numbers and yet reps who have a contract win fall in their lab, get the credit. It's absouletly absurd to award a sales rep for nothing they generated. Just seeing people take awards and get their names at the top of the rankings is an insult to any sales rep who actually sells and closes business with the tools they have. The ranking system is flawed and gives a distorted view of who is selling and who is waiving a piece of paper to a doc that says you have to use labcorp. I would take the money and the award too, i just wouldn't really be able to look in the mirror and think of myself as great at what i do. i would be embarrassed to tell anybody how i won the award and would feel like i lost all credibility if i talked about it. If labcorp wanted to grade and reward reps properly, they would pay out only for call ins and grade on call ins only. Everybody knows the overall territory is out of the reps control yet that is what gets you to gem club. Joke!

think of your regional managed care team as the grounds crew at a stadium. the grounds crew didn't build the stadium or pick the turf. it's their job to mow, sod, plant flowers, rake and pick up hot dog wrappers and bird droppings. any big decisions like changing the type of turf, planting different flowers, using a hoe vs. rake ...well, that's all done at a much higher level in burlington. they have head groundskeeper and that's the same as regional manage care avp. when not managing their piddling groundscrew, they sit in their office and watch tv. As does an avp sit at home and watch tv, do laundry and bake cookies. in the NE, we have a guy that the avp reports to that's been here for over 10yrs and literally does nothing. reports to nobody and has no actual job description or responsibilities. isn't included in meetings, works at home and nobody talks to him. now that's the job you want!
instead of picking up bird droppings and mowing grass, the regional team handles psc complaints, attends quarterly meetings and brings in cookies, gets the plan to put together letters. don't let anyone fool you, the only thing a regional mc rep negotiates is the directions to nearby shopping plaza to run errands each afternoon.

Nice analogy

Complain complain complain - that's all ppl like to do. Give me a break and just leave if you don't like it. You are not being forced to work here and you have the ability to make a choice to stay or go. My manager doesn't know how to manage, half my team can't perform, I don't get the raises or acknowledgement I would hope for working as hard as I do but I made a choice to deal with it. Not because I'm happy, but because I've settled for all of this. Whah Whah cry me a river.

Calm down, Gloria.

If the peasants didn't fight during the revolution, we would all be under british rule today. What weak society we are today with the above poster oozing of complacency and tolerance because they are too weak to stand up for whats right.. Or, they have no where else to go!

Where else are you gonna go? Quest? I hear It's even worse there. Gonna try a small regional lab? In this industry I'm not sure they will survive. I think what the previous poster was saying is just shut up and deal with it. It could be much worse.

You do know that the lab industry is not the only place to find a job, right? Do something else if you are so unhappy and don't settle. That kind of thinking is exactly what lets labcorp do the things they do

Labcorp treats people like a number and act as such. More or less they figure if you dont like it here go somewhere else and we will find somebody else. And, if you stay they know you are not happy and figure you are either to lazy to leave or have nowhere else to go. Either way, they know they can take full advantage of the weak minded... What a racket this circus of a company is

Does anybody in upper management have the first clue on what goes on in the field or the real world? I wouldn't trust any of the goofballs to sell a bone to my neighbors dog let alone sell a valued client. Whoever changed the comp plans and implemented a hiring freeze and created all this busy work with spreadsheets, satellite, crm campaigns, pecos, clearly has no clue that there is only about 5 minutes left in a day to sell. And if you are lucky enough to actually meet goal when you can sell you will get paid less than the previous year.. Makes sense! Way to value your employees. Start looking people, the nickel and diming on pay and admin work paralysis has set in and is here to stay!

Jim M knows it all. Ask Him.

This is the situation. There are about 15 techs in the department and all accrue 4 to 6 weeks of vacation each year. Basic arithmetic says there is going to be a problem if you only allow one person off per day and the date has to be requested 6 months in advance. No more than 6 months and no less than 6 months in advance.

Now her faves can have take any time they want off, no matter how many others are off. If the date is taken, anyone else has to wait until practically a day before the date requested, to be told if the day off is approved. She says that this just in case there is an increase in the work load and to be fair to the ones who are not on her fave list. What??... I know........ it makes no sense to me either.

Will someone with common sense please advise your So. California lab manager that one does not make medical appointments or know your kid's graduation date six months in advance and the reason that one requests ones own earned PLB a month in advance is so that supervision can plan for coverage.

After reading some of the other posts, I must ask, does this company prefer to put paranoid people with control issues in management?
