Janssen and Hep C Division expansion

Has anyone, internal or external, that has had either a web-based interview or face-to-face interview heard anything back yet from the company? Is it true that interested and qualified internal candidates have had more than the first round of interviews conducted so far?

Internal here: candidates that are being moved forward have, for the most part, been interviewed a second and/or third time. Some have received offers and more will be receiving offers next week. If you've been stalled for awhile and haven't heard back, that likely means you're not among the first choice of candidates. It sucks that your interviewers/HR haven't been straightforward with you. Also, it's less likely but your delay could also mean that HR/recruiting haven't coordinated well. It took 5 days after the decision to hire me was made for recruiting to get me my offer and supporting documentation. It took my internal colleague 6 days. That's classic J&J recruiting: just slightly better to deal with than your local DMV.

Good luck.

Internal-Your candor and truthfulness is more than refreshing. Assuming Internals on PIPs aside, have these openings for the most part been gobbled up by existing Janssen employees?

External new hire here, just got the offer this week. Was told that it will be a week until a written offer arrives and the related followup to finalize the offer. Not too worried and as an external, appreciate the open info I received. I was led to believe that they were looking for a portion of new hires with HCV experience, good luck to those waiting, it sounds like it will be straight out once training gets going.

About half of the new sales hires were either automatic placements from other J&J organizations or transfers from other J&J organizations, i.e. internal J&J people who had to interview against both other internals and externals. The other half are external.

As for prior experience, Hep C helped, but more important was consistent performance in a complex sale. A bonus was performance in a crowded market, like HIV, oncology, and some of the biologic spaces. Don't forget that this division is launching Simponi for UC, which will be a balancing act to take share from Humira while not cannibalizing Remicade. Ooph, could be a sh*tshow.

Good luck!

My recruiter has inferred that there may be two companies co-promoting at least the Hep side of this equation. I am not totally comfortable with that however, i will have a steep learning curve on the HCV side of this deal. They have been selling for 3-4 years now so they should know a lot about the disease. Comments?

HCV is becoming a cluster-f#%} over the next few years and most of these products will have a 2 year run before another new product replaces it. Be cautious.

Yes, I am beginning to realize this. I have a good friend (actually I am sleeping w/ her) who has told me not to take this job. She said that TMS-435 will not be used on label but will have pretty good use off-label w Gilead's Sofosbuvir. However, she said that it will only last one year and then another combo pill from Gilead will totally obsolete this therapy. OMG, the above poster is so right. and yes , vertex will co-market this drug. I will get some tonight even though I will pass on this job. Oh ya!

You guys came to late to the party, Gilead is going to be the market leader in the HCV market place. Patients cannot handle 24 weeks of INF plus Ribavirin. Also, if a patient has been exposed to Bocepavir or Telaprivir they cannot be on your new therapy.

Oh my, you would have a higher chance of people thinking you were credible if you could actually spell. But then again, what do you expect from a overpaid caterer? Idiot.

GILD reps have relationships with Hepatologist and ID doctors, better SVR rates, all oral therapy which will cure the virus in 8 to 12 weeks, and Gilead will dominate the VA. Sorry Janssen 24 weeks with IFN and RIBA won't cut it. Bow down to the king of virology.
