I really like the mgr and would like to sell this product. However I am just not going to be able to take a pay cut. $140k was on the table with recruiter, then $135k with manager. Just kept dropping. Now I would have to take less than what I’m making.

Similar scenario for me. Add in no 401k match and there isn't enough upside for the risk. Most successful experienced psych reps are making around 130k.

In the next few days I think people will be dropping out unless they plan to try and collect two pay checks for awhile then decide as training approaches.

When it gets closer to 1/15, I’m going to ask for more money. I don’t think they’ve considered most of us will be getting some sort of merit increase by March.
If they just don’t care about the lower than promised offers, there will be several backing out. Also what about the 2nd hiring wave that they will be in a hurry to complete? Lower than $130k just wont net the type of experience they need.

they saved so much money with the 1st wave that the 2nd wave is going to get More money. Then they are going to send us all to Arizona and let the toxicity seep.

Go ahead and back out. There are plenty of qualified reps ready and willing to take your place.

I thought that would be the case. But I DID back out and have been contacted to reconsider. I did not like the person I interviewed with. So I felt no compulsion to leave where I am for a slight raise to work in an environment that, for me, raised red flags. Might be a great fit for others but apparently not

Dont kid yourself - they will fill the spots, if they can get the experience they will take it if not - on to the next. Its this way with the majority of the start ups.

I wonder what the deal is with having training/launch mtg in Arizona

What’s the deal with it? What are we doing here... conspiracy theories? I have a couple..

1. Sharon Mates is on house arrest at her home in Arizona and can’t leave.
2. Lumateperone is really kyrptonite they are mining it in Arizona.
3. Governor Ducey is incentivizing drug rep meetings in Arizona.
4. Arizona is a state that happens to be warm, central, and not Texas... you idiot

Central?

From my situation and those I know they are trying to get top talent as cheap as possible which will land them with their 2nd choice in many cases. I know many people who didn't even apply or move forward when they heard 140 was top end and others now having 2nd thoughts. I think paying a little more in some markets is well worth the revenue difference from choice 1 to choice 2 and easily pays for itself.

Of course - Everyone wants COE performing reps with relationships- at bargain prices.
Your mistake is that you are attempting to use logic. $$$’s available is what drives start ups, and most arent willing to spend what it takes to hire experienced, strong performing reps (that havent just been layed off)

140+ base for a regular pharma rep ?
lol
Some DM’s don’t even make that high of a base, I would say 95% of pharma reps do not have bases of 140K+[/QUOE

I would have to agree with you! I have been in the industry 20 years and specialty 17. My base is way below that and I am a decorated rep with a ton of accomplishments!

Im concerned about the lack of Psychiatry experience and Schizophrenia experience with upper management and employees throughout the company. If you do not understand the industry and marketplace you will never be successful with this drug. I sure hope that you have hired Specialty Psychiatry reps with Schizophrenia marketplace experience to sell your new drug!

Is anyone else concerned about micromanagement here?

Regional leaders seem like a mix of good and bad. But the worst micromanagement in this industry always starts at the top. So the real question is what is the mentality of top management above the Salesforce? It's a bit of a roll of the dice with a new company, there is no track record, and the pressure for revenue is on. Could end up horrible, could end up great and rewarding. Only time will tell.
