HCP Access

Great! Another SPIFF based on baseline growth but no consideration for volume, market access, etc. Get all those tier 1 not accessible prescribers growing! Can’t wait to see all the territories that only need 60 scripts a week take home the prize.

Honestly, what do our sales reps do all day?????

‘Well since you asked, here goes. In the morning we might be on a useless conference call, filling out a useless spreadsheet for our extraordinarily dumb manager, going to Starbucks for coffee for office cows. Then we lie about a few calls and maybe get a gas receipt to prove we were where we said we were. CYA is very important. Then maybe a lunch and lie about more calls. Then maybe run some errands for awhile and lie about a few more calls. By then, since I don’t have kids, i usually hit the gym for about 1.5 hours. If we need more calls, we usually lie again. As you can see, it’s a very exhausting day. Anymore questions?

Clearly a man wrote this.

Women will do the gym AND nails, hair, spray tan, IG influencer pics and posts.

the above is Hilarios but not too far from the truth. Corporate is creating the problem by putting three reps in territories which is completely ridiculous in most of our tough access areas. Most of us would love to have enough customers to call on in a day to keep us busy and feel a sense of purpose by bringing value, but the idiots sitting in the ivory tower down hand us down bogus target panels that consist of 60% no access providers and then send out three reps to call on the exact same providers. This isn’t 2001 anymore folks. The turnover rate with our salesforce is extremely high because the job satisfaction is so low. The only reps who say they love their job are either lazy asses or have a second job to keep them busy while using Abbvie resources.

DING DING DING DING!!!!!!

Honestly, what do our sales reps do all day?????

Depends on the territory.

I've worked for many companies and had vastly different areas in terms of access. In one area, I busted my butt and had big sales growth because I could see most of the doctors and could do lunch almost every day.

Then my territory was realigned and it was 85% no see docs so the day looked like a lot of CYA, logging flyer drops, or sending emails that probably don't get opened. Flat sales.

Companies say they want us to tell them who we can't access but the truth is we are vested in avoiding being downsized, analytics is invested in having enough to do and saying how they created the best ever target lists, marketing is invested in status quo, and management is also playing CYA while the top brass are busy looking for a way to cut costs right before the next acquisition so they can land their next golden parachute.

Same story at every pharma company. People care, but they're all too busy looking after themselves to change it.

Did you actually say you wish you had a “sense of purpose by bringing value”???? Sonny, I retired from this industry with almost 39 years of service. I was hired by a major company in 1980. We DID bring value in those early years but that concept was over long before I retired. AI will all but replace traditional reps in the next 10 years. I have actually seen a prototype of what will change the industry forever. I obviously cannot say what it is or what company is developing it, but it will GREATLY if not COMPLETELY eliminate the need for pharma sales reps, MSL’s, and other field based sales related positions. PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! This is not a career anymore. You must reinvent yourselves now!

I came from AZ, where the rep lifestyle is called the All Day Lie. There was a long-standing thread on the AZ message board on here that was even titled by that name. I'm serious when I say that there are few better paying jobs that I know of with so few real responsibilities. What other job would require you to recite a 30 second commercial 4 times a day, four days a week, pay you six figures, and basically give you a new mid-range company car? Or have a work schedule that allows you to pick up the kids from practice a few days a week or drop them off at their private school every day at 8:00am?

Be grateful for what we have, because a lot of people would love to have such a problem!

AI will replace more than Pharma salesforce, many positions are at risk.
