Happy 2017! hang on...more layoffs coming

March is almost here! Do what you are told and wait for your number to be picked!

Yes indeed. There are no names in hat only territory numbers matched to costs. The more money you make and the less valuable your territory better your chances of winning the next big AZ lottery. Anyone in management making in the 90% of top scale is as good as gone. Oh, and it has nothing to do with your performance because that is legally risky. It has to be strictly by formula.

If you work in Wilm HQ, be prepared to move to MD or look for a job. JP Morgan is buying the rest of the campus this year. They will leaseback to AZ while they move the US HQ down to the Medimmune campus.

Remember early to mid last year? They shared how they brought in a couple of HR gurus? Both of their MO's were slash and burn. What occurred in July/August to be folowed up w/ the 700 in December are just waves that will continue to roll in.
I know a lot of very good people got let go that were part of the 700. There was no asking to fill in open positions, no opportunity to even take a step back into a lower role...nothing. This is all about cutting high cost people. Very short sighted since those that will be left will be lower paid yes men and women that are good at sticking their noses up asses. AZ is burning.

The July/August and December mass layoffs cost them a small fortune in severances, COBRA costs and LTI. Anyone cut from here on out will really get screwed.

This is true. Restructuring costs were very high the last go around because it consisted of mostly tenured people with 15+ years at AZ. Im guessing they probably had to offer a high severence since most were in the 50+ age or protected class. Now that that's out of the way, all bets ar off with high severence costs going forward

News Flash, most will be let go rather than absorb the costs of relocating people. Only the most critical positions will be offered a paid relocation. The rest will most likely have to reapply for a job and pay their own way there. You just have to love how AZ treats long time loyal employees.

Let the cherry picking of diabetes begin. Easily identifiable, tenured people with legacy seniority, if they are still here. Average seniority was 8 plus years.

HQ source here and as I told you several times in the past, the number one target in each layoff phase are well tenured people who qualify for the legacy Zeneca pension. The last of those, and there aren't may left, will be gone by June. They consider them the highest cost item with the lowest R.O.I. They want them paid off and off of the books.

Not AZ legacy. BMS legacy that kept their seniority, higher base pay and venture.

The OP says layoffs in March and your saying June? Which is it?

Wait a second , my manager just sent out a text to hold 3 days in march for a National sales meeting in vegas ! So layoffs will pillow
be before we book flights or months after?

All I know is the neuro team was trained on three products, went to a national meeting and were let go shortly after. Makes no sense, but maybe it was some kind of write off. What I find strange is that there wasn't any "chatter" happening before the Dec. layoff. Everyone seemed caught off guard.

They never went to a national sales meeting and didn't go to SIMS either

Not true. CP was awash in chatter several months before December happened.

All one has to do is read between the lines. In this case, Pascal has made it clear in one of his interviews last year that he wants " new employees with fresh ideas". Translation =Higher costing tenured reps must go!
