Its a well known fact when marketing gets in the way of the engineers there are major issues with innovation, a problem many companies struggle with today as CEO’s are to interchangeable and don’t change much if all with the times. Tesla proves that point very well for a large public company with a lot of success with little to no marketing where the engineers rule the roost. Zimmer going the wrong way in today’s world regarding all that.

bingo! Moral rock bottom as ideas are crushed.

20 minute tka tops, try and slow him down with some BS new sales piece and immediately throws it on the floor. He loves new tech from an engineers standpoint, but sales gimmicks that will only slow him down and change no clinical outcome he can smell from a mile away. We’re missing good white papers that aren’t sugar coated these days. “Innovation has been lost in a world of me to products, time to step it and invest in yourself, instead of gambling on buying the next winner. Where have all the thinkers gone? Are the lights even on in that room?”

that’s awesome a 20min knee? Takes longer to make dinner than to have reconstructive surgery. I’m shocked that the clinical outcomes for TKA aren’t great. I mean I found a general contractor that quoted me a week to demo and remodel bathroom, but then I found the 20min crew—-what an outcome in 20min!

either way just let us all know where this person is so we don’t send our families to them. I bet he wants to pay half price too? Continue your race to the bottom.

You must be one of the clueless ones from marketing lol. I don’t know many surgeons who take more then 30 minutes for a tka unless they are straight out of school. Carpal tunnel case takes longer then 99% of knees these days.

Understood so I don’t want anyone I know go to any hack surgeon you may know. In addition, what are your ideas? Drop selling price? That ingenious idea has been floated by reps for years. Ok we’ll do that—-oh wait—-we’ll need to drop your comp per procedure and you’ll need to get more volume. Mmmm. What’s your original idea?

Easy to complain but hard to lead.

Relationships. Zimmer has completely forgot the value of reps and their relationships with surgeons. Hiring complete morons for little money and expecting results still is literally the definition of insanity. Other companies still see value in relationships that’s why the remaining good reps get good offers from them yearly and leaving 1 by 1 taking the business with them. Amazing how Corp still can’t see the obvious…Newer faces think they matter these days when they have no understanding of the industry they are now in.

Funny statement and probably coming from someone w/o a ton of ortho experience in the field. It is hard to lead but it's also hard to sell in a quickly changing med device market. That is why it is 2 separate roles with hopefully different skill sets. The sales success is easy to track w/performance vs. target and growth. The leadership performance is also easy to track - shareholder value (underperform), employee retention (underperform), culture (underperform). It's leadership's role and responsibility to shape the vision and strategy (develop original ideas) it's the sales role to execute.

Primary TKA's are usually done in 45 minutes or less in every major market in the US by great surgeons with great outcomes. Surgeons are tasked with having great outcomes while reducing OR time - that's why anything that slows down a case better show either improved outcomes and/or cost savings. In today's market if you don't have 1 of those 2 you won't be successful long term in broad fashion. That's why the new "smart" knee doesn't make much sense or it won't drive a premium over current prices. Also what are you going to do with the data? Name 1 product we've launched in the last 4 years where we've been able to get a premium or drive additional value (giving away a Rosa doesn't count)

I was there in Dallas when BH started. I believed him when he said he was going to be a CEO that the reps could get behind. He was one of us, right? I rolled my eyes at the medallion ceremonies but figured that maybe this stuff worked. In the years since, I have been disappointed again and again.in my humble opinion, I would have considered BH a total success if he had done nothing more than remove internal inefficiencies. Instead, it's gotten worse and we still don't know what we want to be as a company. I know that I'm ready to leave and walk around with my resignation letter now. All I have to do is date and sign it. Doing so has removed all stress and anxiety about remaining at ZB. In the meantime, interviewing with other companies is actually fun. I wish everyone the best and good luck to all.

same here, asked for offers recently and S&N came through with a number I was not expecting… if you have some business worth asking them, they seem to understand the role we play way more then Hanson does. I’m working out details and will be gone by end of year. Good luck to everyone looking, and there are way better places to work, especially now.

Go watch TV granpa. In black and white. #clueless-dinosaur

Ivan doesn’t have the capacity for strategy. “Come on lets go”? That’s not a strategy. He would be a great mid-manager because he’s a hard worker, but his approach is not what you want out of a senior leader.

Ivan and Bryan and Lancaster fired about 50% of the people that worked corporately at ZB who had the ability, desire, and the vision to drive the company forward. Another 30% of the people have left because they know those three mentioned above don’t want leaders who can help grow the business and do what they think is best. The remaining 20% of talented people are now so disenfranchised that they do not care anymore. They’re doing minimal work and collecting a pay check until they too either get fired or find something better. Anyone who tells or things differently, does not have their finger on the pulse of the company. I still work here, I’m telling you it is bad. There is zero motivation to try and be better. You do NOT want to get noticed for ANYTHING.

The leaders want yes men. This is a strategy for minimal short term gain and maximum long term loss. The company had a really solid chance and lots of really good people in place. Most of them are now gone and replaced with people who do not know nor understand the business, and they don’t have the capacity to learn it either. It’s sincerely depressing what the place has become.

This.

we are the best knee company. Period. Stryker is dead. At least in the west.

In a normal world, the CEO of a publicly traded company would get a call from the BOD chairman. It would be discrete, but the message would be that the wife needs to cancel her social media account. It would be done immediately and this nonsense would disappear forever.

In clown world, this $hit is "celebrated".

She’s at it again. And immediately following the firing of 50+ people in Warsaw. How distasteful. Also her comment to a follower suggesting bad timing was disgusting. “I’m sorry it landed that way for you. Important to look at how zero people we let go or furloughed for the 18 months of Covid.”

Is anyone else concerned with her use of “WE” did she have a say in anything?

BH had to fire ~60 people to cover increased jet fuel costs for his G550. Notice how BH keeps his G550 in Ft. Wayne and BH blocks flight tracking on his G550, so nobody here can see his comings and goings.
