Ivan doesn’t have the capacity for strategy. “Come on lets go”? That’s not a strategy. He would be a great mid-manager because he’s a hard worker, but his approach is not what you want out of a senior leader.
Ivan and Bryan and Lancaster fired about 50% of the people that worked corporately at ZB who had the ability, desire, and the vision to drive the company forward. Another 30% of the people have left because they know those three mentioned above don’t want leaders who can help grow the business and do what they think is best. The remaining 20% of talented people are now so disenfranchised that they do not care anymore. They’re doing minimal work and collecting a pay check until they too either get fired or find something better. Anyone who tells or things differently, does not have their finger on the pulse of the company. I still work here, I’m telling you it is bad. There is zero motivation to try and be better. You do NOT want to get noticed for ANYTHING.
The leaders want yes men. This is a strategy for minimal short term gain and maximum long term loss. The company had a really solid chance and lots of really good people in place. Most of them are now gone and replaced with people who do not know nor understand the business, and they don’t have the capacity to learn it either. It’s sincerely depressing what the place has become.
